Title: Squidgetx's music dump
Post by: squidgetx on June 12, 2012, 10:14:02 pm
I've been forgetting to post! I've made a few new songs, which you can find on SoundCloud:

Memoirs (http://soundcloud.com/mediumeight/memoirs)
Soft Shell (http://soundcloud.com/mediumeight/soft-shell)
All Through the Night (http://soundcloud.com/mediumeight/all-through-the-night)

These three basically show how I've been messing with different chord progressions and instruments lately...Enjoy!

Aww these could have been great (they are, but not as great as they could have been) Too much reverb and delay in the synths. Tweak the synths some more and don't use presets too often.

Hm, thanks for the feedback. I'll try to scale it back a little and see what it sounds like. Do you have any more specific suggestions on which instruments/which songs you're talking about?

I covered the intro of "All trough the night"
This is what it sounds like:

The instruments are a bit more subtle. They have some reverb and delay in them, but not too much. Also: Not everything sounds like a sawtooth wave. I used 3x osc al lot and the "popcorn" preset from image-line's sytrus vst. The drums are samples and fruity kick.

Song 1: I actually don't mind the reverb much, although maybe the kickdrum of the first song could be louder and the melody a bit less. By the way I like that sound used starting at 0:41 or so a lot. It especially gets epic around 1:55. Make sure to add a good bassline, though. ;)

Song 2: I would probably reduce the volume of everything because distortion occurs through the song due to sound volume being kicked through the roof. Maybe keep the kickdrum at the same volume though (or louder). I would probably change the snare to one that sounds less MIDI like, though, and add more treble to the first sound that sounds a bit like some guitar. I love the melody in that one too. Seems like you're getting better and better at melodies and stuff. :)

Song 3: I like that one too. This one doesn't seem to have as much the weak kickdrum problem, although I would probably reduce the entire volume as well too, since near the end it starts getting distorted a bit.

Are you planning to put them in Omni archives and getting juju to add them to Omni radio by the way?
