BatLib doesn't work in this version and causes a crash. I wonder if parser hooks are no longer allowed !_!

I was able to run Axe to compile, but even after installing CalcUtil it throws an ERR:SYNTAX when I try to run it from the homescreen.

I was able to run it from Mirage tho. (DCS7 threw the invalid error)

Maybe if the apps are above a certain number of pages...?

I'm trying it in wabbitemu, and the third-party apps work...

Have you tested it on your TI-84+?  Wabbitemu does have errors
No, 2.55 crashed enough times in the one night I tried using it, and this version seems worse :P

They removed asm, remember?

Yes, I got that, but calcutil doesn't use the asm( token ;)
I guess you could compare it with that feature dcs has, "home run" iirc

But what about appvars? And I point out that the OS chooses which applications to keep when clearing memory for Signapore (where ever that is) by name. There's nothing to prevent us from renaming MirageOS to Espanol.

Erm this is weird. ??? Could someone give some other apps a try? Personally I know the video player fails, DCS7 fails, TI-Boy SE fails (although it wouldn't even run further on my calc anyway due to no extra RAM) and same for Chips Challenge.

Thankfully, if this comes out for real, people could simply keep copies of 2.43 to 2.55MP around or make patches for 2.71MP, but when you buy a 84+, you don't get given a link to these patches. This could definitively reduce our audience in long terms. :/

On a better note, anti-downgrade protections are impossible on the z80 line, so you can downgrade to any other OS fine (I tried). If it fails, just force an OS re-install request with ON+DEL while putting back a battery in.

I compiled Tio, which uses a level which is an appvar, if that's what you're talking about.

DJ, I think I've made a sort of connection...maybe apps over two pages won't run? [/speculation]

My eyes are glued open in shock. I am dead serious. If this is what TI is planning to release, then...I don't know what should be done about it. This is horrible.

Thank you Hot_Dog :)
Verified that MirageOS will run programs. Maybe all hooks are disabled, though. That is what I am thinking...

DJ_O: Downgrade prevention is impossible now, but TI could release a new boot code with it, storing the downgrade protection information in the certificate. (Invariably, that boot code patch will not fix the exploit BrandonW found.) Of course, old units would be immune, but it would still cause problems for us.

Oh, right. X.x That would suck. Do you think it could eventually be circumventable easily if that happened? I'm not very familiar with that technical stuff.

Well... now I know why this OS file was slightly smaller than the 2.55MP one...

The only way they could have made it run this crappily is if they wanted it to be crap. Iono, if TI doesn't end up uploading it no problems, but the alternative is horrifying.

DJ_O: Like I said, TI probably hasn't gotten the memo on the boot code exploit. If they try to store downgrade protection in the certificate, they'd have to fix the exploit too, or we could simply erase the certificate.
