Title: 87232 posts in one year
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 01, 2011, 09:34:42 pm
To copy Runer112's "Yet Another" topic prefix, here is YAAAT - Yet Another Activity Analysis Thread. :P Kidding aside, 2010 has been a year of records on Omnimaga forums and IRC, both in terms of activity and project releases. A total of 87232 posts were made this year alone, an increase of 72228 over 2009. The previous record was set in 2006, with 30132 posts. Also, the record for each specific month was broken this year, with the exception of January.

2004 - 60 (0.31/day, in 192 days)
2005 - 9457 (40.41/day, in 234 days)
2006 - 30132 (83.01/day, in 363 days)
2007 - 15898 (43.56/day, in 365 days)
2008 - 3783 (19.70/day, in 192 days)
2009 - 15004 (41.22/day, in 364 days)
2010 - 87232 (239.00/day, in 365 days)

Following Ndless release, our activity saw huge spikes that would only get bigger and bigger as time goes by. In March, we saw our first 200+ posts days since the Invisionfree era. Those became very common afterward, after being very rare on the old board, then on March 23rd, we got our first 300+ posts day ever. Starting on June 22nd, we even started seeing occasional days above 400 posts, something that became common after Summer ended. Afterward, we even began to see some 500+ posts days and since September 11th, we had over 100 200+ posts days in a row, a streak that has yet to end.

The record high amount of posts in one day was set on November 7th 2010 with 739 messages, more than what we sometimes got in one month in 2007 and 2008. Following another 600+ posts day that ensued a few days later, Omnimaga board averaged above 400 posts per day until two weeks ago. November 2010 was the busiest month on the forums with a total of 12636 messages and December, despite a decrease, is still the 3rd month in a row that Omnimaga averages in the 5 digits.

The huge activity spike in 2010 bumped the new Omnimaga board total post count past 100000 in the process.

Traffic-wise, we are still getting more and more hits every month, hopefully bringing more recognition to authors of the several projects and releases, and hopefully also driving some additional traffic on other major TI community websites and forums.

We hope that 2011 will be another big year for calculator programming and discoveries. Thanks to everybody who has contributed into renewing the interest for calculator programming!

DJ, any idea to know when my 140posts per day was, followed by the 110-ish day... :P

2010 looks like a very active year for Omnimaga, with lots of new members and posts ;D

I think it was shortly after that 739 posts day. I would have to check all your posts to know, though, which would take ages. X.x I think you had 250 in two days.

You posted so much for a while that you have a higher daily post rate average than me! O.O

 Yeah that's true, but I'm going easy now because I'm programming more, respect is more important that posts, When I say respect I mean both respect (thought) and respect (integer).

Yeah true. It's nice to be active on forums and help people as well as give feedback, but if you can code that's an even greater contribution unless you make a quadratic solver. :D

Crap I totally forgot to talk about that streak in my news post. X.x That's one of the thing I wanted to mention the most. I'll edit it.

That streak reached 100 a few days before Christmas, but I didn't post a news about it, because I thought it would end on Christmas day, which is generally quiet, then I would have announced the streak lenght. However, we finally didn't end it, so I decided to wait until the end of the year, then I forgot as you can see. X.x

Now the goal for 2011 would be to keep the activity to a certain level. The goal is to continue trying to keep Omnimaga forums as friendly as they are in overall and be open to projects and try to give our feedback when we can. It's even more important now because more and more people come to ask for help on the forums. New stuff and discoveries discussions can be good too, such as the Casio Prizm and Ndless talk. Another goal is to continue trying to keep Omnimaga oriented towards calc games development. :D

Indeed. I hope most people stay around for a while longer since there's a quite awesome group of users right now. Activity went lower but it's still rather high and not too much either (although higher isn't bad, I just had less time to check new stuff lately XD). :P

Yes, but he gets to start working on it on the 4th.  But considering he hasn't posted, he probably has gotten his phone taken away again.

Yeah, I hope he can manage to be more active than last Winter and all of 2008, although life passes first, especially school. But I remember Cemetech was pretty inactive then. X.x (even less than United-TI)
