Title: 9 voices for the TI-84 Plus Orion talking calculator
Post by: critor on November 29, 2013, 02:01:41 pm
Chase Crispin has released a new video clip of his voice-enabled graphing calculator, the TI-84 Plus equipped with the Orion voice module (http://ourl.ca/19539/368510;topicseen#new). This time, he provides information about the 11 special keys onto the module.
Among the video clip's contents is the audio configuration menu, accessible through the 'pref' key.

Suprise! In fact the module contains voice data for multiple persons and we could just listen to 3 different voices at 3'25.

A retranscription of the menu follows:

Paul was the default speaker until now in our previous experiments, but there are others, with a gender parity for choosing one's companion, as the module provides:
Cats are said to have 9 lives, and the TI-84 Plus Orion voice module has 9 voices ;)

Let's now discover all these voices one after another! ;)

Given that the module already supports multiple voice tones, it should be even easier to add other languages in a future update!
But that requires consumer demand for such a feature... ;)

For some reasons, I got the bad habit of writing posts then forgetting to click "Post" afterward, because my post the other day isn't here. >.<

This is pretty cool. It would definitively be nice if they made the module compatible with the Fran├žais or other language apps in the future.

I wonder if you can hack the ROM to put your own voices in. That and if TI emulators could add support for it. That would be cool.

Nice, different voices. Could you, over assembly, select the voice and then have like reading dialouges in an RPG?
