Aichi has started to work on an online sprite editor a while ago, which later spawned a map editor. More features were added and it started to look promising. Here is a screenshot of both as well as an example of map that can be done in it:

Some key features are:
-Multiple map sizes support
-Ability to use created sprites in the map editor
-Creating sprite sheets
-Exporting sprites to hex, binary or decimal
-Exporting tilemaps to hex or even a JPEG, the latter being useful to showcase your maps on forums or making game walkthroughs
-Changing map tiles either by clicking the left and right mouse button or by holding down shift or alt then hovering over the appropriate squares
-And many more
Since it is not finished yet, there might be more added in the future. For those who wanted to create sprites and maps on the computer and quickly export them to Axe format, these tools might be for you.
A-Sprite: Online Sprite Editor (http://xeverion.com/Tools/Asprite/)
A-Map: Online Map Editor (http://xeverion.com/Tools/Amap/)
Both tools are going to be added in the Misc (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=7) section of Omnimaga website.
