Title: A New "Wave" of Physics Simulations
Post by: ztrumpet on September 21, 2011, 03:48:38 pm
Recently there have been quite a few developments in the realm of physics in Axe.  Two days ago Builderboy released Zedd (http://ourl.ca/13090), source and all, so it could be used by any Axe programmer wanting some "proper physics" without having the knowledge to do so himself.  This is already illustrated by Graviter (http://ourl.ca/853950), leafiness0's incredible platformer.  In the last 24 hours, however, water physics have been all the rage.  Two new water physics demonstrations were released within one hour of each other.  The first, buttsfredkin's Water Simulation with Track Drawing (http://ourl.ca/13123) exhibits the cellular automata effect many experienced coders are familiar with seeing, yet it looks extremely nice in doing so.  The second, is an all new way of looking at Water in Axe altogether.  Builderboy upgraded his buoyancy library from Zedd to make it a fully featured Water Surface Simulator (http://ourl.ca/13124).  Needless to say it looks incredible.  All four of the programs demonstrate wonderful physics, and hopefully this shows that there will be many new games with awesome physics released soon.

wow, Builderboy comes back, gets back to work on those physics programs, and they are better than ever.  Plus they made Graviter super awesome.  :)

I'm truly blown away by the innovations such a small but dedicated group of people constantly manage to squeeze out of what the majority of people know only as a four-operation calculator. I love you guys. :')

Four function?  I think it might be able to do Sine.  :P

All of these physics programs are great examples of Axe's powerful instructions and capabilities.  Great job!  Keep up the great work!

Wow!  This is simply breathtaking!

Amazing work on this program!

Wow. Just...wow. (Frey needs to get him some skillz so he can do these things too.)/me feels emprogrammated

I am honored to have my water track simulation included in this set of wonderful programs. :)

Well, I am amazed by these Physics emulations. They're so perfect and fast for a calculator. The water simulator with track drawing is simply stunning!

I made a clone of butt's program with massively failing water initialization.
Next up: Learning water physics so I can add actual physics in there! Whee!

lol, all of the actual water simulation code in my program was BuilderBoy's, I basically read his cellular automata tutorial and built off of the material in that.

A necropost is a post in a dead topic ( a topic where isnt posted for lets say >2 months)

Oh. Was I supposed to not do that?

No, it's fine. I don't really understand why people make a big deal about it though...:P

But Frey, this wasn't a necropost. Just FYI.

Yeah, it was only 9 days (tho on some forums (not omni), two days is a warning-worthy necro x.x)

It's typically considered bad form. Don't sweat it, though. It happens to all of us sometimes. ^^
