Title: AKoO now on iTunes/Spotify!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on August 02, 2014, 12:37:20 am
There have been some requests for the addition of my music album Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga to iTunes, Spotify and other paid music retailers, since some people either were unable to buy it from Bandcamp or wanted to add it to their Spotify/Pandora streaming library.

Until today, AKoO was a Bandcamp-exclusive album, unlike Tales of the Knight of the Moon and my two dance music compilations, the reason being that TotKotM was the poorest seller outside Bandcamp and that publishing my music on other services costed money. Afterward, I released a new music single called Unfinished, which included a new track, as well as three unused versions of AKoO songs and a medley of scrapped material.

As a compromise, in order to allow Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga (http://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/ancient-kingdom-of-omnimaga) and Unfinished (http://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/unfinished-single) on non-Bandcamp commercial music services, I have finally decided to combine them together and the new result is finally available since earlier this morning on big stores and streaming services: Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga Special Edition!

Basically, the regular tracklist from my 2nd full-lenght album will start normally, then the Unfinished single tracklist will follow. However, the bonus track has been replaced with Merry Metal Time, which was a Bandcamp-only bonus track for Tales of the Knight of the Moon.

Enjoy!

In other news, something seems to have caused my Reverbnation profile (http://www.reverbnation.com/djomnimaga) to get much more traffic than usual in the last few days. I don't know if it's because of the hip-hop remix of Grooving to the Melody by HarZoiD (http://harzoid.bandcamp.com/track/grooving-to-the-melody-harzoid-remix) released last week, but Since July 28th, I have gotten 30 new fans on Revernbation-proper, half of which were in the last 12 hours or so. While I sometimes made it to the top 10 metal artists in Quebec City metropolitan area in the past, I have never reached the 2nd position before, let alone two (EDIT) five days in a row, and I believe it's the first time I make it to the top 100 metal artists in Canada as a whole there. In addition to that, on August 5th, after this news was written, I made it to the 2nd spot in Quebec City overall, behind only Celtic Punk band Irish Moutarde:

I also made a new song (http://www.reverbnation.com/djomnimaga/song/21479998-elemental-cross), but don't expect a new album anytime soon, because my music motivation only seem to occur during Summer. :P

Yes I know. I lost the game from it too <_< (back then people could leave messages to sellers via e-mail)

EDIT Wow I am 1st in Quebec City/Levis (unless it also includes all other cities surrounding the area?) metal charts and 41st in Canada today O.O

Heck yeah! DJ rising to the top!

Also: thanks for putting this stuff on Spotify! I can now add my favorites from AKoO to my playlists!

Idk but I haven:t gotten any for 1 year and the space where they went seems gone now. Also when I bought the last Albion album there was no option to leave messages.

Btw, do you make money off of spotify, too? Is it like a few cents per listen?

I listen to the songs on youtube.

Maybe I should use the youtube to MP3 converter and get the songs

No, you shouldn't. You should either buy them straight off bandcamp, or wait until you can. DJ is an artist, and piracy is not something he likes, especially when he can see that someone is going to do that. It's really rude of you, and I'm sorry, but it's just wrong.

I won't do that.

There's also the issue about audio quality being very poor on Youtube with certain songs. If you purchase the techno albums the first 14-20 tracks are WAV/HQ audio quality and on the metal albums every track except some bonus ones are HQ. The rest is already available for free on Omni, along with lower quality or shortened versions of other tracks (which is why I consider track 15 through 35 on ADoMH and track 21 through 55 on ADoOD as bonus tracks and why the albums used to be like $2).

Also it's against the rules to discuss methods of music/software/movie piracy anyway.

Btw, do you make money off of spotify, too? Is it like a few cents per listen?
Yes, but not a lot. I can't figure out how much Spotify itself gives, since my stream revenues includes every streaming service, but for example, from 90 Journey Through The Moon Dark Side streams I made $0.80, yet from Frozen Danger with just 10 streams I made $0.76. IIRC Spotify gives between $0.001 and $0.007 per stream and some others give as much as $0.10 per stream. Most of my revenues are from individual track sales on iTunes and the like, but spotify and other streaming services are much more convenient for certain users and can help increasing artist popularity I guess.

I don't really care, though, considering I get between 100 and 600 streams per month.

EDIT: I didn't know there was a chart for overall genres locally. It appears that in Quebec City, if we include every genre, I am 2nd, just behind Irish Moutarde. News post updated with actual pic. O.O

So my 1st position streak finally ended so it will have lasted two and an half weeks. I peaked at a bit under 6000th position worldwide all genres included and for a while I even topped Irish Moutarde in Quebec City's rankings, all genres included.

Yeah I expected it to end at one point. I think I probably got featured somewhere, but I didn't know the traffic would last this long lol.

WARNING: For those who cannot use Bandcamp to purchase this album, I am letting you know that the iTunes/Spotify/Zune/Rhapsody/etc version of this album will be terminated very soon. Takedown requests were issued to Reverbnation for Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga, Tales of the Knight of the Moon and A Decade of Omnidance, so in a few months or weeks they'll be gone from retailers (except Bandcamp of course). If you planned to purchase this album, then you should do it as soon as possible because it is unknown when and if it will be back on iTunes afterward. A Decade of Magic Hardcore will remain for the time being, as it's the only profitable album in the list.
