We are pleased to announce that the Great Restructuration (http://ourl.ca/14432) of Omnimaga, announced two weeks ago, has finally been completed yesterday. After the rules (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=2), we also changed the membergroups as follow:
- The Anti-Riot Squad (ARS) now have full moderation power over the forums, much like the former CoT group. They also have a brighter shade of red.
- The Coders of Tomorrow (CoT) no longer have full power, only on their respective project subforums (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=12.0). Existing CoTs has been given ARS powers, the future ones might or might not be ARS as well. That is, someone can get both ARS and CoT, the CoT label takes precedence. Both also have write access to the News section.
- The Newsers group has been officially added (it existed for a while, unofficially). DJ_O, Critor, Adriweb and jimbauwens join the ranks of this new group. They now have write access to the News section.
- Our resident Lobster, Netham45, has been elected President, CEO and Supreme Overlord of Omnimaga. He hosts Omnimaga and made lots of cool features for the site, such as OmnomIRC.
- The Managers group, who own Omnimaga, didn't changed.
- Finally, we completely restructurated the hidden boards for use by the different groups. Each group have their own hidden subforum. (Obviously, there's no Lobster subforum as we only have one Lobster. They use the Managers board instead.)
So here's the new order of precedence:
- Lobster
- Managers
- Anti-Riot Squad
- Coders of Tomorrow
- Newsers
- Normal Members

So Netham is now President, CEO and Supreme Overlord of Omnimaga? :P I though you (juju) were teh baus of omnimaga since your sig says you're the owner and the administrator.

well, technically all the managers own Omni. Netham just has some extra powers to take quick action.

Technically, you're both CoT and ARS, but the Coders of Tomorrow label takes precedence.

j/k congrats to the new promotions and I think the changes are a good idea, especially considering after what happened in August x.x. Also now it seems we're back to the old board settings for CoT and ARS, the only difference being that the colors are still swapped and that back then, ARS was called Manager while actual Managers were called Admins.

Hm, seems I'm your favorite manager.
Well, the main reason is that we wanted to congratulate him for all his hard work on Omnimaga. Technically he only have as much powers as a normal manager, much like the Queen of Canada.

I wouldn't mind rejoining CoT (as music guy), but only if my activity won't get much lower than it is right now and only if it comes without a single moderator power (except of course the news editor stuff). I can't guarantee a consistent release rate for stuff, though, since my inspiration tends to come in big chunks.

How do you get 'promoted', is it by recommendation? or a legit application? (not for me, I'm just curious)

I'm glad to see these changes completed. :)
@Saint: The usual method is application, but I believe it could just as well be a recommendation (which would be discussed). You would also need to have a current project(s), and decent activity level.

Lol, in my case, I'm on here like every day, and I have 3 projects out...besides Seeker...which actually is the best I've done so far! Altleast I think....I'm just not up to par in the coding field yet ( I only REALLY know Axe and BASIC...as for computer I know Python and a little JAVA)...or maybe I'm just super nervous about getting turned down....lol anyways, Is there a list of requirements?

We usually open applications once in a while for CoTs, the rest, plus some CoTs, are by recommandation.

From experience, CoT was application-based, while ARS and manager was promotion-based. All managers were ARS or CoT for a while before becoming manager, though.

Yep, myself I was appointed IRC operator, before this group got their powers extended to the forums and renamed Anti-Riot Squad, then promoted to Manager.

I noticed the logo things weren't updated yet, and I had some free time at school.
I'm not sure if the spacing between the E and W in "Newser" is right, but it looks better a little compressed imho. :P
