Planète-Casio is starting a new 48 hour Casio Programming Contest. This one is for the Casio PRIZM and you must use BASIC as programming language. You must make a game or a tool.
The chosen theme is movement. You only have 48 hours (2 days) to create your game or programming tool. The deadline in GMT-5 is Sunday February 26th 2012 at 5:59 PM and in France time (GMT+1) it is Sunday February 26th 2012 at 11:59 PM. You must submit your program here (http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/programmes/soumettre_un_programme_casio.php?calc=-1) before that deadline (the most up to date version of your program is the one taken into account)!
The program must contain a minimum of 2 colors. Black and white do not count as such.
Your program must be in French or English.
The maximal size of the file is 550 Kb. The programs have to be under format g3r or g3m, contained in an archive (zip or rar) if there are many.
This contest is open to everybody, whatever your level or your age, as long as you register on Planète-Casio website and provide an e-mail address.
Any breach in rules will result the disqualification of the participant.
Scoring Criteria:
- Quality of code, programming, bugs: 3 pts
- Originality: 3 pts
- Graphics and presentation: 2 pts
- Gameplay and ergonomics: 2 pts
The game will be tested on Fx-CG 20 with OS version 1.03 (link (http://edu.casio.com/products/cg_soft/cg_agreement.html)).
To win: One Fx-9860gII (Graph 75) provided by PC's sponsor Casio Education.
For shipping costs reasons, the prize will only be shipped within the European Union (Norway, Switzerland and Luxembourg included).
Have fun!

I'd do this just I dont live in the EU :(
sounds fun though and I wish everyone who participates the best of luck
-
lol 48 hrs? O.o
I guess... I'm in! for fun! XD
-
Regrettably I won't be doing this :( all though it seems fun :) I just don't have enough time to make anything winnable :P
By the way TBO, have you figured out PRIZM text wrapping with strings yet?
-
Guess who's one of the judges? *trollface*
Kidding apart, I'll try my best to be impartial.
THEME: "Movement"
Good Luck Have fun! :p
-
instead of *trollface* , you can do colon trollface colon like
From that aside, everyone good luck on this :D
-
THEME: "Movement"
quadratic equation solver with moving numbers :P
-
THEME: "Movement"
quadratic equation solver with moving numbers :P
Or a number-guessing game where the numbers dance around :P
-
Sounds like fun. I guess we will see in I join...... I don't know if my idea counts as "movement", but I will enter it anyways. Nevermind. I'm not in the EU. Oh well. I made a game anyways.
-
Thanks too Dj_O for the news :)
Success Guys !

methinks that it would be possible to use StrLen()
check if the string is longer than the distance between the start of the string and the end of the screen(I suck at explaining stuff), and if it is, continue displaying the string in the next row
-
THEME: "Movement"
quadratic equation solver with moving numbers :P
I thought about a social movement game. (strikes).
-
It's StrMid( and it works like sub(
:D
-
If I had a Prizm (and lived in that area) I would port Trace to it. :D
-
I'm doing this competition for fun, not prize XD
-
I'm not doing this competition for fun, not prize XD
If not fun, and not prize, why? :P
-
i meant I'm doing this for fun XD
-
I guess for the prize, if someone in Europe is willing to ship the calc to you and you trust him you can always get it shipped to him then he ship it to you.
-
I live in the USA so I decided to try this just for the challenge and not to get a prize. Therefore I didn't submit it at CP because I didn't want to confuse the judges.
Anyway, here it is! (More refined -- and larger -- version coming soon!)

-
I don't mind, go POST IT!
-
He can submit it to the contest even if he posted it publicly here before? I know the Omni/Cemetech contests usually don't allow this, but maybe it's different for this contest.
-
Posted on planet casio. ;)
EDIT:

I'll probably try it later. I'm curious about how much people will be able to do in 2 days actually :D
-
Looks like a real fun game though I'd like highscores :P All around its great lots of fun for when the teacher gets boring I mean when I'm bored at home and have finished hw :P
the only problem I found was that it does not always respond when you press the arrows to move. If that could be fixed it would be a lot more fun

I can probably fix the key problem through optimizing, etc.
I'll do Hi scores with matrixes or lists.
-
Awesome I cant wait to see it when you get all that added in
-
so, when is the deadline in EST?
-
I start a quick game that I thought I might attempt this contest with, but It got to big :P
It's based of of mine craft
-
I think I'll gonna "port" my really old fx-9750g game XD
Also, saintrunner, don't try to set the plan too big XD It's due tomorrow O.o
-
Oh I'm not doing it for the contest, sorry I forgot to specify that, and it isn't going to BE 'minecraft' only similar in concept possibly...I haven't decided
-
also, try to utilize => (JUMP F3) as much as possible.
The syntax is:
Condition=>Condition if true[:Condition of false]
-
example?
-
Wow, super quick deadline! O.o Good luck everyone!
-
Wow, super quick deadline! O.o Good luck everyone!
yes that is one of the reasons why I am not planning on participating :( I'm on college visits and won't have as much time to perfect much, but Good Luck to those who do paricipate
-
for example:
A=3:Goto 1:Goto 2
If A=3, it jumps to lbl 1. otherwise, it jumps to lbl 2.
-
So A=3=>goto 1:goto 2
^^ with the => key after the condition? aaah this will help a ton thanks :)
-
yes. it's much better than simple If/Else stuff. :D
-
how is that text wrapping coming? do you understand all the str( choices? like left right mid (I'm assuming is for string location) and the other things?
-
What I do understand is StrMid(.
It works just like sub( in TI-BASIC! :D
-
ok cool thanks :) that was what I was mainly wondering about, where the sub command was, or more so what it was
-
also, you can't do Str1=Str2.
You have to do StrCmp(Str1,Str2)
It returns negative number if they're not equal.
-
This is a really good idea, like Ludum Dare if any of you know of it. Maybe we could do something similar, but for Axe game making?
-
oh god 6 hrs left XP
-
Only 10 minutes left!
EDIT: It's over!
-
Where can I see all of the entries? If you post it, post it in link form Please.
-
Thank you guys, with you we have 9 entries, for a programming competition on 48h, it's exceptional.
Your games were linked on the official topic (http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/forums/lecture_sujet.php?id=11160) of this second 48h CPC.
Results will be given in 1 or 2 weeks max.
About the deadline, I made Gravity Duck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggUt390bmAo) for the first 48h Casio Programming Contest ;)
-
Wow awesome. I'll give them a try if I have some time later. I have been kinda busy dealing with the old Omnimaga board merge/conversion to SMF and testing the Cemetech entries. Good luck to everyone :D
And it's amazing how you made an entire add-in in 48 hours O.O
-
And NOW I get a game idea, half a day after the contest ended >:(
-
Doesn't mean you can't still make it ;D
-
Doesn't mean you can't still make it ;D
of course, I think I'll make it for the prism AND in axe if I have the time :D
-
who won?
-
I think the site said wait about 1~2 weeks
-
Next week-end we give the results ;)
-
I don't think I won. It was worth a try though.
-
The results are posted : http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/forums/lecture_sujet.php?id=11188
Thanks all for your participation !
-
It won't let me access the website. Who won? 2nd Place? 3rd?
-
I can't access it either.
-
Funny. Planet-Casio is just forbidden. :/
-
maybe they got hacked O_O
-
Hmm, odd. I too, cannot access it. Not just the link, but the site itself.

-
somebody who didn't win got angry and DoS'd it?
-
All .htacess files are cleaned :/...
We try to recover them.
Or a problem with ovh...
-
I got 9th Place. I knew I wouldn't win. Oh well.....
-
i expected 9th and I got 8th :w00t:
-
The level on Planet-Casio is very high ^^
I have fun to test your programs. I found School Escape pretty special, why i had to leave school ?
-
well, there was no reason. You just had to because you were told in the game. :D
48hrs in not enough for developing good storyline. XD
Also, the game was meant to be kinda "WTF? I died for random reason!" stuff, which is basically simple comedy value.
-
Yes, your game was very "WTF, why i die for this reason ?". Try to improve School Escape with a story and a little less linearity ;)
-
idk if I mentioned it somewhere or not, but school escape was the "port" of my first calc game programmed.
I ported the first one (there was 13 of them :P) since I didn't have enough time (and I'm busy most of the times.)
I think it was school escape 9, and that one was actually freakin long (26 floors) with no continues.
-
This week end, there is 48h CPC #3 !
Make an addin for Prizm. The theme will be unveiled in less than 2 hours (midnight in France, GMT+2)
The deadline is Sunday 22 april, 10:00 pm (GMT).
