Title: Bringing the community together!
Post by: Geekboy1011 on April 01, 2021, 12:28:31 pm
We are pleased to announce Cemetech has approached Omnimaga and is looking to acquire the site. These talks have progressed to the point where we require community involvement in the acquisition.
As such, we are now looking for comment from community members in support or against the merger. As you can see, @KermMartian is very interested in this acquisition and would be an excellent choice to guide the spirit of this community:

Edit (Eeems): This was an april fools joke.

Will there be a kickstarter? xd

No, but we are considering an onlyfans. After all, LTT has shown that it's viable for tech to make the jump: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJwjqZZgcWk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJwjqZZgcWk)

Hello there.
Would that mean just an ownership change, or should we expect some significant changes regarding the actual omni site experience?

Likely we will be experiencing significant changes reminiscent of when TI purchased Omnimaga: https://www.omnimaga.org/news/ti-really-buys-omnimaga-more-details/

Sounds great.
BTW, Kerm just confirmed the new clickable peanuts feature!

I don't think I can do an OnlyFans; I'm just not ready for that kind of responsibility :|

I, for one, welcome our new overlords as long as there will be a blue skin. I don't really care for Cemetech's shade of red. Since it is an acquisition, that means money is changing hands right? I won't sell my support for less than a brand new 4-function calculator!

Agree, but cemetech peeps can't handle the omni-bus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upNphtZCvjs&t=38s).

Ugh. I really like Omnimaga as it is. But what type of benefits are even going to come from merging? And I agree with E37. That red is gross to me. I can't stand the harshness of it. But if Kerm can work something out then I'm willing to take a look. There is a lot of good information and things on both sites. And this also has the potential to get my programs to other people and calc enthusiasts outside of omnimaga.

Just a little more detail on what this looks like. I'm curious...

Still waiting for the Cemetech OnlyFans.

Still waiting for the Cemetech OnlyFans.
We wouldn't want to compete with LTT.

While I understand there could be huge benefits from merging the communities, I'd still love to keep the site as it is - at least the looks and feels. Would be really weird to stuff the cemetech theme down omnimaga's throat >.>
(Not opposing the merge itself - just huge changes in design) :3

I don't think OnlyFans, which is Cemetech, Omnimaga, TI-Planet, CodeWalrus, TI-Basic Developer and Ticalc.org's future homes, allows much webpage design changes.

How about OnlyTechs?

Jokes aside this is exciting. With the decreasing popularity of the forums in general and the waning interest in calculator programming (likely caused by the advent in mobile platforms), unifying the calculator community is in our best interests, not only to work together to facilitate interest, but also to show a more united front against TI's repeated efforts to hamper the community (sorry, this continues to piss me off). And not to be buttering people up, but the Omni, Cemetech, and CW forums couldn't be run by better people. I am excited to see how this works itself out.

The question I do have is the nature of the merger. Is Cemetech absorbing Omni and their designs becoming the same, with the staff teams merging? I would perhaps recommend considering a focus-based linking between the various forums, with omnimaga perhaps becoming a subdomain of cemetech that focuses on gaming, like it does, with the cemetech main site focusing on general utilities and programming aid/assistance, and other forums adapting their own specialty if they later merge. Be careful about a merger that spreads resources as well as veteran and new membership in a way that is hard to compartmentalize.

Just in case it wasn't clear, this was an April Fools joke. Omnimaga is its own separate entity, and will continue to be.

Oh well, there's always the Darkblasters OnlyFans.
