Title: Casio PRIZM released a bit too early?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 16, 2011, 09:43:32 pm
It seems that Casio either skipped or rushed the beta-testing phase of the fx-cg10 operating system. Although Casio's new calculator features an Output-like command (which the TI-Nspire still lacks), it doesn't work well when special characters are being displayed. As the following video demonstrates, characters will appear at the wrong location, not appear at all or colors will not be the right ones:

We encourage you to contact Casio if you encounter this bug, so hopefully they resolve it. So far, no crashes-inducing bug seems to have been found, though, unless this new OS still contains some from the older models.

Well that's just lovely. Maybe we shouldn't be rushing to get prizms just yet, unless... Oh wait, Sircmpwn!

^this, or Qwerty.55 and z80man, who both could write parser hooks to temporary replace some of the TI-BASIC commands.

:/ its too bad its full of bugs that make it a bit hard to use.  Maybe since Casio has better response to emails and stuff someone could let them know and they could work on fixing that

There is a possibilty that some prototype models got released without Casio's permission forcing them to release the Prizm nearly a month early. Before some of the bugs could be worked out.

Bug or no bug, is it just me, or does that program run extremely fast for a Basic-language one?

Maybe. I think it would be good if we made a topic asking what OS version everyone got so far, to see. That reminds me, are there any downloadable OSes available anywhere? ???

Yeah it seems quite fast. I would have to check with collision detection, though.

On a side note, getkey has quick key repeat mode, kinda like direct input, except no multi-keypresses

I would hope (that unlike some other major company we know, *cough* TI *cough*) that if bugs are reported Casio would attempt to fix them in their next Os Update. :) Let's hope so anyhow.

I haven't found any, and I don't think anyone else has either. OS files would be extremely useful for the Prizm hacking.

At least, with the NSpire we have them :D

I actually encountered this bug as well, but I just wasn't sure if my program was buggy, because I'm pretty new to Casio BASIC.
Glad to know this time it wasn't me. ;)

Casio pulling a TI on us? :-\

At least we can play around with it, even with a bug.

Anyone care to guess what topic comes up first if you search "casio prizm hacking"?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was this one. :P

If we only search Casio Prizm, Omni is only 41th, though D:
