Title: CGPN: February 2011 newsletter available
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 27, 2011, 12:43:25 am
The February 2011 edition of the Calculator Game Programming Newsletter has been released!

(http://www.omnimaga.org/newsletter/cgpnlogo.png) (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=30)

Those who have notifications from admins enabled should be receiving it in their e-mail inbox shortly, if not already, and is also available in the newsletter section here (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=30). Since I currently do not have FTP access to the website, another admin will be in charge of uploading the HTML and plain-text versions of the CGPN tomorrow. They will be available here (http://www.omnimaga.org/newsletter/feb11.html) and here (http://www.omnimaga.org/newsletter/feb11.txt), respectively.

This edition includes a list of all download-able calculator games and utilities that made Omnimaga headlines in February so far, as well as interviews with both Hot_Dog and Xeda112358, plus many more. In addition to that, Yunhua98 is now accepting contributions from users for future newsletters, so if you have an interesting topic, feel free to PM him!

As a reminder, notifications can be enabled or disabled via your forum profile (Profile->Notifications and Email->Check/Uncheck "Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email").

Enjoy!

Awesome, I didn't even know it was out, but then I realised it was the last day of February, so I figured it would be out :D I really do like this newsletter!

Indeed. It would also make front page on Omnimaga (and maybe even ticalc.org once they fix their lack of news editor issue). It needs to have a certain level of originality and/or new features, graphics (ASCII art is fine, but not most menu-only RPGs), speed/gameplay/controls and such stuff.

Next newsletter should be on April 3rd. (closest Sunday to the first of the month)

You should do one on April 1st.  I'm curious to see what this year's big day will bring.

Ok, very nice to know. But I don't know if I can get on it with my limited programming abilities. Well, we'll see.

If I write a book or build an awesome robot for google science fair will I get in?
Fixed ^, and the awesome robot project maybe, but doubtful for the book.

And I still haven't gotten the first news letter, and I have everything set up correctly, so I'll need to read the html one methinks.

Actually a book on TI calc game programming would be pretty cool. There would be sections on BASIC, asm, nspire C, and axe. There would also be parts that taught you how to use all those BASIC libraries like Batlib and Correlation. We have enough knowledge to write a book, but I'm not to sure of how well it would sell.

Well only calc-related stuff can get featured. It can be a major tutorial, though, as long as it's game-programming-related.

As for the newsletter you need to enable notifications in your profile, but some e-mail providers blocks automated e-mails.
