Title: Chips Challenge released for the TI-83+
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 22, 2009, 04:38:53 am
After many years of wait, Chips Challenge is finally arriving on the TI-83+ series of calculators!

Chip's Challenge for TI-83+ is a clone of the famous puzzle game of the same name on the Atari Lynx and PC, the first ever for TI. This is also the first game for the TI-83+ series to have 8-level greyscale graphics! Included are all 149 levels from the PC version of the game. But enough about that - perhaps you're wondering what this game is all about. "Nerdy" Chip McCallahan is trying to join an exclusive computer club called the Bit Busters, but first he must pass the initiation. Chip has to find his way through a magical clubhouse, which is full of obstacles and tools like teleporters, invisible walls, pushable blocks, force floors, water traps, locked doors, and plenty of monsters. This game will supply hours and hours of nasty puzzle fun!

Since this application is massive (about 131 KB on calc), smaller level packs versions of the game were included with the game as well for those who need a lot of space for other stuff.

Game download is avaliable in the download section here (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=456)!

On a unrelated note, we also added TI-Boy SE GB emulator to the download section, but the download link will redirect to the ticalc.org file info page as it is updated regulary.

After playing some more, I think some of the tiles are a little too bright.  In some places it's hard to differentiate the movable blocks from the floor.

I don't want to do this but
yeah, it's me again, with bad news x.x

I just installed Chip, saw the spash image, and,
the game is messed :/
the screen moves vertically, so what dissapears at the bottom appears again at the top if you know what I mean.

Sorry for the bad news, I hope it doens't happen on all the calcs of my series :/

Have you run it recently though? A RAM clear or maybe another program could have messed with it (the TI-Boy patch comes to mind here :P)

i transferred it to ti 83+ to my friend in school, and it worked fine... Could it be another hardware change through the different versions? (i mean like ti boy).
btw my friend has a pretty old calc, although he has latest OS patch (1.03 i think or whatever latest OS it is on TI 83+). And he got the full version of chip, not the divided one, because he only has omnicalc in the calc (he said he wanted to type in lowercase letter)

Yeah, they started making the LCD more cheaply so it responds slower. Maybe I should add in some more delays (though I'm not sure if the speed loss would be worth it)

Calc84maniac, the ALCDFix is unfortunately just for 84+ calcs. I have no clue if a fix for regular 83+ calcs was ever made. You would need to ask on Revsoft or United-TI. Some 83+s got broken LCD drivers

well I am using 84+ R and ALCDFIX doesnt affect the screen-mess I'm afraid
Some or what I hope I'll be the only one having this prob.

And congratulations on the feature!
