Customize your Casio off-screen logo with a BitMaP image
« on: August 03, 2013, 08:46:33 pm »
When powering off your fx-7400Gii, fx-9750Gii, fx-9860G or fx-9860Gii, you are shown a nice Casio logo.
This logo is in fact a BMP image included in the OS - and from now on, a new tool is going to let you overwrite that image! ;)

You can now fully customize your Casio calculator - why not putting an image with your nick in order to prevent theft? ;)

The BMP image has to be in 128 x 64 pixels, with 1-bit color depth.
This format is refered as "monochrome Bitmap" in some softwares, and in other softwares you just get it by setting an indexed image with a 2-colors palette.
For exemple, GIMP is able to read this format although it won't accept to write it as far as I know - but the simple Microsoft Paint everyone has with Microsoft Windows is able to do it! ;D

And for those who won't believe in a single image, here's the video: ;)

It might be possible to perform the same thing in color with Casio Prizm fx-CG10/20 and Casio CladdPad II fx-CP400, but I haven't investigated yet if a 3rd party OS flasher like fxRemote is available for those models.

Pretty nifty :) Should work as a pretty good fix for the lack of the naming system on the b/w models.

What do Casios do on shutdown that takes so long anyway?

Looks really nice.
And probably using this way is also possible customize the icons of the menu (default apps) and apply "themes" like casio AFX.

In fx-cp400 there is a native option for shutdown images, using custom casio property images. I wrote a program to create .c2p images in basic called CPaint, but currently are only 8 colors available.
Maybe casio release in future a tool to convert images like prizm converter.

BTW: Possibility of you crosspost this at casiopeia?

Very nice Critor. I might try this when I put back batteries in my calc. :) Now if only it would have been possible to modify the image directly on calc by launching an add-in, then people could have pulled pranks on their classmates by replacing their logo with "You lost the game" or rickroll lyrics. :P

By the way I didn't realize the FX-9750GII and whatever is the Graph 25+ Pro had a shutdown screen at all.

Pretty nifty :) Should work as a pretty good fix for the lack of the naming system on the b/w models.

I think they backup the RAM into Flash or a different RAM area and it is restored upon reset or startup. THis is why when you reset your calc your RAM remains intact, but all progress since the last shutdown is lost, rather than wiping out its entire content.
