Title: DJ no longer manager
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on February 08, 2011, 03:11:43 pm
Unless things change, I have decided to no longer be part of the Omnimaga staff, due to life and online reasons. The reasons why are because the task of running the site has been made harder and harder by certain forum members, putting unnecessary loads of pressure on myself (increased moderation on IRC at night and several people bugging me non-stop to check their project updates, followed by complains when I didn't, and lack of help from the other staff part. Also, since my work schedule has become unstable in the past few months (it got better, but it's not going to change in long terms), this doesn't help. Basically, I am busier, and when I am not busy, I am simply too tired to participate to the community properly or at all (some people my have noticed my posts are getting shorter and shorter, or not written properly). You might have noticed my activity on other sites has become more sporadic as well. In addition to that and probably because of that too, my interest have been slowly waning.

Since I notice no change and due to lack of help on the news posting side, it is clear for me that I will not be able to contribute like I used to anymore. Since all this have caused me to temporary retire from staff several times in the recent past, too, I am getting worried I simply can no longer hold that position anymore in long terms. This is why I have been thinking about calling it quit, soon.

:/ sorry, I've been a little focused an not able to help with news and stuff...I'm also not on IRC enough these days.
I'm trying to do more, it's a little hard to start the habit though, especially with so much else on my plate time wise on the computer.

I'm thinking about retiring from this site as well.
I have a real feeling of guilt, not knowing wether I caused this.

That sucks :( Before this sunday, I wasn't on omni for 2 weeks.
At least Omnimaga as a whole is doing well.

I know no matter where i am, i am a burden, sry :/  (is that the appropriate smiley figure?)

I do feel however that swearing has been happening more and more frequently and I implore that the amount be slowed down.

I wasn't expecting this at all, not for now at least.

Well DJ, I hope you can rest more for now, but I'm sure the community can handle it without you (I hope so, at least).

I also think you could 'hire' two members/admins/persons to write News since you are, by far, the person who writes more News.

Good Luck DJ!

I hope you do okay, DJ.  I know I'm not as active as I'd like to be, but I'll try and see if I can help post some news from time to time. :)

I agree with that Idea fully.  (DJ I sent you a PM earlier that basically proposed this, but by the time you see this you'll have read it :P)

And most importantly is yuor real life issues.  We can get by without you, though we'd prefer you to stay.  While I still remain powerless to help you IRL, I can only pray things will get better for you.

Too bad that you're retiring... you've always run things well here in the past, but if it's getting to be too much I can understand that. Hope you have better luck with your IRL issues in the future.

:(  I have been so busy too, so I can certainly understand you're troubles.  I hope that you may find time in the future to become more active again! :)

Good luck DJ with your life. It was a very reasonable choice (from what you exposed in the topic) to make your life more stable.
But I am sure you will come back in better times. ;) And of course visits us at least once every weeks (or almost).

You have very nice persons in the staff, I am confident they will do a good work. I administrated some forums before and I wouldn't mind in Omnimaga if my time wasn't more divided than ever (and will go worse eventually -.-') and I if I could focus my interest in calculators rather than lots of different things. I am trying to start focusing on one thing at a time.

Well, I'm sorry to hear :( I understand, perfect schedules are not given to everyone, but that's life. So good luck to cope with everything at the same time, it could be hard sometimes, but don't despair. You have our support. We love you :P I hope you could post once in a while, it's always fun to hear about you :)

Happy break from the manager status, I think you need this, and nice username, BTW :P

i think it's good to let everyone know that, considering that everything you do here is volunteering, nobody should be "expecting" anything from you. i, personally, am not particularly pleased to see you taking a smaller role, but it's not my decision to make (and if it makes your life easier then i can support you in it. you definitely need a break =D). if you gave me a few pointers on mod stuff (how/when news should be posted and things like that) i would definitely be willing to help out there. good luck dj!

I'd say it's time for a well deserved break DJ.

Enjoy some time off and let your batteries recharge a bit. Heck... we all need that from time to time. :)

Also, why did his name change to DJ_O?

So People wouldn't see "Omnimaga" in his name, and be like "Oh, hey, there's an admin."

wow this must be really hard for you DJ_Omni. And it's not easy running your own website, especially one with such a thriving community. Good Luck for the future... and we always know you'll be still around, a legendary figure (legendary posts and ratings!). Anyway if you weren't here, Omnimaga.org wouldn't have existed, and on behalf of the omnimaga community, i say thank you for having the faith to continue in 2008 when activity was down and everything else you have done, even though i wasn't a member back then, i can guess that making omnimaga rise again after that must have been a marathon.
Well it can't last forever, and 10 years is quite a long time. Many others would have given up long before you even thought of giving up. So well done, and all of us as a community will write the next chapter in omnimaga's history.

However i still think you are the leader of this website, and that alone is enough to make me think you are still an admin of sorts.

this combined with the recent events of members betraying omnimaga on cemetech... omnimaga is still here. Be proud that you founded such a great community. There will be hard times. Omnimaga will pull through.
