Title: Doors CS 7.1 Released!
Post by: KermMartian on December 14, 2010, 02:47:09 pm
After a long summer and fall of coding and debugging, Doors CS 7.1 has finally been released! This milestone comes three years since the last major release of Doors CS 6.0 in April 2007 and two years since the incremental release of Doors CS 6.2 in May 2008, and four months since Doors CS 7.0 was released in late August.  Nine years since its humble beginnings (http://dcs.cemetech.net/index.php?title=Version_History) as a crude BASIC shell, Doors CS 7.1 aims to bring a full set of features and rock-solid stability to users and coders alike.  It supports MirageOS, Ion, Doors CS, and nostub BASIC and Assembly programs, and contains full support libraries for XLib, Celtic III, PicArc, (partially) Omnicalc, and the new DCSB Libs that let Doors CS coders use features like the DCS GUI.  The HomeRun feature lets you execute any type of program, BASIC or ASM, archived or not, from the TI-OS homescreen.  The Doors CS desktop lets you view your programs and folders, organize them into nested folders, cut, copy, rename, lock, archive, hide, and even edit programs, and change settings and options from the DCS Menu.  Doors CS 7.0 added more robust protection from data loss due to RAM Clears, including automatic restoration of the user's folder structure. In addition, Doors CS 7.1 packages the powerful CALCnet2.2 networking protocol into the shell, allowing users to link two, twenty, or two thousand calculators for communication and multiplayer gaming.

For ASM developers, Doors CS offers a full suite of features, adding the DCS GUI system, and Associated Program system that automatically opens files in their associated viewer/editor, and much more on top of a full complement of MirageOS and Ion-compatible libraries.  BASIC programmers can take advantage of support for every popular BASIC library built directly into the shell.  Full information about Doors CS can be found at http://dcs.cemetech.net (http://dcs.cemetech.net), including a (very) exhaustive feature list (http://dcs.cemetech.net/index.php?title=Features) and screenshots galore (http://dcs.cemetech.net/index.php?title=Screenshots) for your viewing pleasure.

Download Doors CS 7.1 today and unleash the full power of your graphing calculator!

Oooh glad it's out! I'll have to update my calc soon! :D

I think this immediately go to the news section. I'll just edit the post a bit, though, due to the 550 pixels width policy on front page. :)

Also I see you used Starcraft music in the first video. ;D

Kerm, that video is nicely done!
I hope more people will realize the power of DCS. :)

It is already on mine!  :D
I love DCS. This knocks the socks off Ion and MOS.

Hm, an SDK for calcnet? I'll have to check it out.

Thanks aeTIos! Qwerty.55, it's actually an SDK for general DCS development, ASM and BASIC alike, but it does discuss CALCnet, and there's also the CALCnet whitepaper.

Ooh, downloading time.

I like the second video.  It looks very snazzy and professionally done.

DCS 7.1 is a true masterpiece for Z80 calcs!

Thanks Michael_Lee.  AeTIos, I'll have to make one, unless you feel like doing the honors.  Ranman, I'm very flattered, especially coming from as longstanding a community member as yourself. :)

So it includes the Doors CS7 Assembly routines that we can use?

I noticed that when you cut a program, it goes to a checkered icon. That's really nice because you can see which program you selected. Nice feature, Kerm.

What does ESCAS stands for? Is it a computer/calc project you're working on?

No, it's a DCS glitch.  It's a program accidentally left behind on occasion.  It happens rarely, so Kerm is having trouble determining what's happening. :)

Oh ok, I see now. Seems like a bug that will be annoying to fix. I hate bugs that are hard to re-create. X.x

More specifically, it happens with prgmCSTLE (Castlevania), which is so huge that you have to delete almost everything else on the calculator to shrink the VAT enough to fit it in RAM.  In case people missed it, Doors CS 7.1 and CALCnet2.2 were mentioned on Hackaday (http://hackaday.com/2010/12/16/peer-network-using-graphing-calculators/) and Slashdot (http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=10%2F12%2F16%2F204241) this past Thursday. :)

Wow great! I didn't knew they featured it. This is nice! Congrats. :)

Also is it a Castlevania-specific bug? Or does it happen with other files too? Castlevania and Gemini can be problematic due to their single file sizes. I know Reuben Quest also had this VAT problem, but it was split in multiple files and was mostly in BASIC, so I guess it's different.

I've had it happen on prgmCAVE too. http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/290/29069.html

Really? Weird, that one isn't even that large. This looks like a cool game by the way. Is it some sort of helicopter game clone?

It can even happen on WFRNG... ;_; Although that's a different issue, I think.

Oh that's from where your issue about getting WFRNG to crash comes from X.x. I think I remember you mentionned that before, or maybe it was someone else.
