As there are already some notable Tetris clones available for calculators, new ones, despite offering some different or even unique features, tend to gain less attention. Today we are posting an article about one that is currently in the works, but pretty far into development and stable, but also one from last year.
For a while, somebody on the forums has been working on another Tetris clone for the TI-83 Plus series called Eitrix. For the most part, it plays like Tetris, but it also has various power-ups that spice up the gameplay.

It also features linkplay. In this game, don't let the pile of blocks go up too high, otherwise you might end up with little surprises with these power-ups. There are no levels, but block falling speed will gradually increase as you clear lines. The game works in MirageOS. According to the author, it won't run correctly in Doors CS yet, due to an issue with interrupts, but hopefully this should be fixed soon.
You can download version 0.5 here (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5867.0;attach=6428). The discussion topic is located here (http://ourl.ca/8464).
One year ago, Thepenguin77 released another Tetris clone called Tetris Marathon, which also had some interesting features. There were no power-ups, but it featured 4 level flickerless grayscale, drop shadow, holding, 5 block queue, 7 bag random, saving games, and 15 levels.

This one can be downloaded at ticalc.org (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/429/42905.html).

When I first read that, I was like, "Wow, someone really named their program the exact same name as mine." But I never expected to get a news an entire year later. Thanks.
-
lol, but yeah, that game was great, I actually still have it on my calc after a year, and its the only tetris I still have. ;)
-
So, will it work in DCS in MOS mode?
-
Eitrix looks pretty cool. :)
Tetris Marathon is without a doubt my favorite version of Tetris for the calculators. Great job on it, ThePenguin, though I'm sure I've told you this before. :D

dittoes with yunhua, and if the other students at my school weren't so cheap and only had 83+'s i'd make sure they all had it too =D
as for eitrix, i haven't really been following it's progress very closely, but from now on i shall be. i like what i see!

Nice work everybody!
@Compynerd255 The project has a lot of potential! Keep up the great work!
@Thepenguin77 You are the master of grayscale!

Actually, the grayscale in this one isn't perfect. It's pretty close, but I didn't do it right.

I remember trying it and it was nice, but it was in WabbitEmu. I should try on my 83+SE someday. And yeah I thought I would make a news. I kinda realized this went under the radar back then (even though I suggested it as feature on ticalc.org) X.x

Tetris Marathon has to be my favorite tetris game as of yet, haven't tried any recent ones.
At first I thought this was an update :P
But Eitrix looks great. What else is scheduled to be added?

I love tetris marathon. Drop shadow = instant win. (as in awesome)
-
Both look great, I seem to prefer thepenguin's though :D

Thanks for the awesome feature, DJ!

Thank you, ralphdspam! The game is still a work in progress, and I hope to add more to it.
But Eitrix looks great. What else is scheduled to be added?
To name a few:
- See your opponent's grid height
- Defense items (to protect yourself from attacks)
- More attacks
- Disease attacks that last indefinitely (e.g. hide piece preview, only get squiggily blocks)
- Tournament mode (first to 2 or 3 wins)
- Music in single player
- CALCnet integration for 4-player play
So, will it work in DCS in MOS mode?
No, not the current version. However, I have just ripped out usage of the interrupt routine, which was getting it to crash originally. Instead, I am calling my interrupt function in various points in the code, especially where the program is more processor intensive. The next version I release should work on all shells.
It's great to get new followers on the game. I'll keep up the good work!

The new features sounds promising. I'll have to check for updates. :D
As for Thepenguin77 game, I loved it too, the only thing I liked less was how when using block instant fall the block took a long while to be stuck on the ground, so I often messed up when using it, as I expected the new block to appear, moving it, but it's the bottom one that would move instead. Otherwise it was really great.
