Title: Fast food and 3D graphing for PRIZM users!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 03, 2012, 02:50:59 pm
Someone over Planète-Casio has made a FX-cg20-only clone (http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/programmes/programme1892-1-mcdonald-game--.html) of the Flash McDonald's Video Game (http://www.mcvideogame.com/game-fra.html):
While being very large (2.3 MB) and not featuring a much superior fast food chain, Burger King, this game once again pushes the usage of Casio PRIZM custom images to the highest extent possible, with high-quality graphics for each area of the game, with the extra text fitting rather well in them. Unfortunately, there is no English version, and like every French game using pictures, this will not work on the american version of the PRIZM, the FX-cg10 (at least until this (http://ourl.ca/15410) comes to fruition).

Besides that, Kerm over Cemetech (http://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7644) has been working for a while on a new PRIZM add-in. Although in Omnimaga news we normally feature gaming, media and development-related programs, the arrival of 3D Graphing  is a major breakthrough in the PRIZM scene!
In the past, the complains about the TI-Nspire and later the Casio PRIZM calculator series were often about the lack of 3D graphing. Eventually, TI added this in the TI-Nspire CX. Kerm now bring us Graph3DP v1.0 Beta 1 (http://www.cemetech.net/programs/index.php?mode=file&id=727) for the PRIZM! Hopefully this is seen by as many math students as possible, so that it convinces more people to acquire this less-expensive calculator model that is more open to 3rd-party development.

Besides that, Ashbad has finally managed to overclock and underclock (http://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7646) the Casio PRIZM CPU without causing a calculator reboot, like when it was attempted over a year ago on Omnimaga (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=146.0). Feel the Power here! (http://www.cemetech.net/programs/index.php?mode=file&id=728)

I'm not sure how interesting a McDonalds game would be, however the graphice look really nice! That 3d graphing progam will surely be a welcome addition once it's complete. Good stuff guys. :)

I honestly thought the McDonald one was for April Fool's joke, but I guess it wasn't :D
Congrats for the authors

Yeah this is why it took so long before I actually feature it and wanted someone to try it (finally ran the emu in VirtualPC). The original screenshots provided on the file page were from the original Flash game, not the calc, so it was rather suspicious.

The 3d graphing looks really good.  Can it be rotated?

isn't that just a single picture with some text layers over it? if it is that way, i don't think it's that amazing. I don't say it's not nice, not at all, but i don't think it's extremely extraordinairy :)

Rotated, scaled, zoomed, you name it.

Also I have read on the Cemetech site somewhere recently that the graphing was rather fast. No matter what, though, one who wants a calc with 3D graphing can now save between $20-$50. :)

What? I thought it was the real deal with all the sprites and stuff. If it's just overlays, then I guess it's not that impressive. But other people will surely be amazed if they don't know. It's so colorful :D

It's just pictures unfortunately (and pretty much the highest the PRIZM supports in BASIC). The amazing part is how much pictures were used for the game, kinda like Myst for the TI-89. Not an achievement, but still a cool result.

Someone really needs to make an add-in like xLIB that adds sprite commands (or faster drawing) for BASIC coders.

That reminds me... maybe someone could port Myst to the Prizm? O.O (although I think the memory would fill up really fast).

btw what I like with PRIZM pictures is how they can be loaded directly from the archive.

Only for the CG-20, unfortunately.

Yeah. I just realized. D:
Why can't CG-10 can have this awesome feature?

what is the difference between the 2?

As far as I can tell from the user's manual (http://edu.casio.com/products/cg_series/data/fxcg10_20_E.pdf), it's exactly that and a few more features dealing with images.

And I downloaded Graph3DP today. That thing is amazing O.O

EDIT: Ah, here's the explanation for the difference: http://www.casiocalc.org?s=861efbbc481e917ed92c8c630487e10f&showtopic=5503&view=findpost&p=51011 (http://www.casiocalc.org?s=861efbbc481e917ed92c8c630487e10f&showtopic=5503&view=findpost&p=51011)

Wait, from this thread you linked to, if the FX-9860G had to be cut down to 768K-800K of flash in Australia, does it means if the Prizm comes out in Australia they might have to reduce its Flash space from 16384 KB to 800? O.O

By the way how does Pixel-test work on that kind of pictures or any stored picture with more than just black pixels?
