Chidi O. has recently released a Final Fantasy Tactics clone for the TI-86 calculator. At 90 KB, it is most likely one of (if not the) most complete TI-BASIC RPG ever released for that calculator model. Although the game is not complete, takes a while to load the first time it is launched (due to the TI-86 tokenizing process) and occasionally runs a bit slow, a lot of work has been put into this program, which turned out to be quite impressive.

You can download the game in ticalc.org archives here. (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/434/43443.html)

Now I wish I had a TI-86. ;)

O.O
Lol on a more serious note, this looks really awesome ^^ its always cool to see awesome games being developed for alternative platforms :D and this looks like a really good remake ^^

how easily is 86 basic ported to 83+ basic?
-
Lol, yeah, there are not that many TI-BASIC RPGs for the 86. Some are in the downloads section here but they're not as good as FFT. I hope the author finish this one, though.
As for 86 to 83+ you need to incorporate XCOPY or another program to launch archived programs since the 83+ has 24 KB of RAM, then deal with screen sizes issues. This game on the 83+ would be possible, though, and run 1.5 times faster.

I saw an 83+ to 86 converter for PC on ticalc.org a while ago (before I joined, when I actually had an 86)
On this note, now I wish even more for an 86 emu for nspire (with 4x overclock support, since many games actually used this)
-
wow! thats really good for BASIC!

really? I should really check it out. Maybe that could make porting some of my old games to the 86 easier.
EDIT: I found it I think: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/211/21100.html
I wonder if it runs on 7...

Personally I think it is the best basic game ever created, but who knows I might have some competition out there.
;D

quick and simple... no
So how could i do it???

Cool. Looks like I'm going to have to dust off my 86 and try this out sometime. ;D
-
Anyone know how i can run 32 bit programs on my 64 bit windows 7?
-
TI-Basic 68K Final Fantasy, looks quite good ;D
-
Actually the TI-86 is a z80, not a 68K calc.

Yea I played this a bit. It's pretty nice, but I'm sure it could use much optimization(it's huge!) I talked back and forth a bit with the guy through email and told him he should check Omnimaga so he could get more feedback and such. Dunno if he'll join or not.

could someone post the source code? (as a txt)

Ah cool. I hope he joins eventually, although maybe he's more of a ticalc guy, like a few others, or is very busy. As for the game, I guess it could maybe use some more speed, but for large RPGs there isn't much that can be done about size. I didn't check the code, though. I played some more last week and last night, but I was busy so I did not get far.could someone post the source code? (as a txt)
That would take a while, there are several dozens of programs. O.O There are pics, too.

That is almost totally impressive and quite a surprise.
