For the first time ever, an Omnimaga staff has won a Ticalc.org Program Of The Year award. Had the old Omnimaga forums not shutted down on Jan 1st 2008, this would be the second one (after Ranman's Ultima V game for the 68k). The 2009 Omnimaga POTY win is TI-Boy SE, Calc84maniac's Game Boy emulator for the TI-84+ series, leading by far the poll in amount of votes.
On the 68k side, TI-Freakware (http://www.tifreakware.net) has won their 3rd straight POTY award with Metroid, after winning it with Super Mario 68K and Ultima V: Warrior Of Destiny the two previous years.
2009 POTY was also the first one ever to feature a TI-81 program: TI-81 ASM Hook Interrupt, to install ASM on certain TI-81 models.
On the PC side, RabbitSign won.
Congratz to this years POTY winners. Results can be found there:

I am happy :)
Also, congrats to Lachprog and FloppusMaximus for their wins!
-
congrats to everyone!
except Calc84maniac of course. He didn't made my requested TI-81 GB emulator D:
j/k
also edited news with more details (an Omni staff won a POTY after all :P)
-
Congrats! Well this might bring more peoples to the forum.
-
In 2005 and 2006, many people, including some experienced TI-BASIC and ASM programmers, claimed everything was done for calcs and that it is why there was a decline in programming interest. I am glad in 2009 people proved them wrong.
-
Yay! Congrats Calc84maniac! What an awesome year for TI calcs it's been!
-
Congratz calc84maniac!
Nice job! I think that you might even win the 2010 NSpire POTY if you manage to make it work on the hardware... That'll make another Omnimaga POTY award!
-
It was a great POTY. I am already excited for the next one.
Finally there is a prized Coder of Tomorrow. Congratulations!
-
Great job! Congrats!
-
Congratulations to all winners!
My votes were cast well, apparently :P
(the programs I voted for all won in the end)
-
Congrats Calc84Maniac :D
also grats to the other winners (:
-
On my side, I voted for TI-Boy SE, Metroid 68k and Chameleon. I guess my votes won in both non-PC category
-
I only votes for TI-Boy SE, 'cuz even though I never used, its freaking awesome!
-
Congratulations to all winners!
My votes were cast well, apparently :P
(the programs I voted for all won in the end)
it's all your fault
-
lol
-
I voted for zero winners... ;D
Great job calc84!
-
I was happy with the second places, too. And the votes other received show the recognisement for the works.
-
TO be honest, I had some doubts that TI-Boy SE would win easily, or win at all. As good as it is, the world is filled with people without experience on something in particular. Example: a lot of new TI users probably downloaded TI-Boy SE on their faulty TI-84+ (the newer ones with less accessible RAM) and when they saw it didn't work, they blamed the author, thus, rated the program 1 star and voted for something else. There are also people who prefer to vote for finished programs, no matter how much an achievement something might be. This is why TI-Boy SE has such low rating on ticalc.org. In addition to that, Calc84maniac had multiple featured programs, meaning votes for him are spread accross all his poll entries, reducing his chances to win. Finally I guess people opted for TI-Boy SE anyway.
-
Congrats calc84! It's amazing (though not unexpected ;)) that votes for you were split between the top two programs and you still won (between them, over 50% of all votes were for you).
-
Wow, I didn't notice it was over 50%! Great job indeed!
-
Its over 9000!!!! Congratulations! I really had no doubt in my mind TiBoy would win ^^ I voted for it after all :P
-
lol, my sister just saw this topic and thought someone won an Omnimaga potty...
:o
Sorry if that offends anyone...
-
lol
there were actually references to this before in the community (ppl misreading POTY as POTTY)
and long before Ticalc had POTY, they had POTM, which got them sued by playboy (j/k)

I think it was one of their first fake news ever, the first being about their 3rd design
-
Congratulations.
-
Congrats to all the winners and authors that were featured. Metroid and TI Boy are some amazing programs -- well deserved wins.
I was happy to see Advanced Dungeons & Dragons get 8 votes in light of the competition.
Happy New Year to all. And keep up the great work guys!

Hey!
the dusty old codger Ranman made it over here! How are you guy? ;D

I resemble that remark. :D
I am well... thanks for asking. I hope all is well with you.

Lulz at Art Of Camelot
But yeah glad to see some of the former TI community members still lurk around
When is Dungeon Siege coming out for the TI-Nspire ranman? *hides*
-
POTY sucks.
-
Who is this madman?
-
The owner of -6 respect, that's who!
Edit: -7 now! I'm moving up in this world!
Edit 2:It also appears I'm banned on #omnimaga.

You've been banned for a while. Also, no double posting.
Edit: Builderboy: he is part of the ticalc staff. And a major troll, so just ignore most of what he says...unless it's contructive
now watch him flame me about that...

I don't see "Double Posting" listed as "against the rules."
Champ.
-
@Builderboy he is ticalc.org file archivers. He filters the 9000 quadratic solvers uploaded every week from the TI-83+ and 89 Assembly Games section to lower TravisE file archiver task.
Also Nikky is banned from #omnimaga since maybe 2005, altough he was given a few chances afterward (altough unintentionally once). I wonder if that post in the other topic page will be the first to reach -5 :P
He was banned from the old forums but when we started this one we restarted fresh with every former banned users on trial.
However, we do not have double-posting rules (unless it's like spammish/flooding)
-
but because of netiquette, we dislike doubleposting, which I thought you knew, also try to be more polite about things...
-
Yeah I agree, altough yeah generally I don't mind if there are a few hours between each posts. If people abuse Dp'ing I can also reset their post counts to zero :P
-
All of the sudden... it stinks in here.
Oh... that's just allynfolksjr. ;)
-
Could we all get back on topic? It seems that this conversation can (and probably eventually will) go bad in the blink of an eye and I'd like to avoid that :)
-
@Ranman <3 Obama!
Yay POTY!
-
Ah well, I guess some folks never learn. :(
-
Well, sometimes it is done on purpose :P
When you troll it's to have fun at other people's expense. I don't see the fun in every kind of trolling, though >.>
-
Sorry I'm so late, guys. (I blame the economy. =P)
Congratulations on the win!
(Although, I knew the GB emulator was gonna win from the start. ;P)
Definitely nice to get some much needed publicity to Omnimaga.

(hoping you did not lose internet access x.x, that would suck bad, I had this happen before)
