Title: Forum data loss (about a whole day of new posts)
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 25, 2012, 04:47:31 am
Due to a server crash yesterday that caused some data corruption, about a day of new posts and topics were lost. If you are wondering why there were very few new posts or why some of your stuff is missing, then this is why.

The team apologizes for the inconveniences this might cause.

Server issues are still being worked out everyday, but new data loss should not occur again.

Yeah, I was almost at 1000 posts and all my efforts were killed :P (not really, I still needed at least 60 posts).
I am trying to remember what I posted yesterday to repost it but it is hard. I only managed to do it in like 3 topics :-\
And Art of Camelot reposted a whole page in the Tales of the Lost Map topic O.O

Yeah AoC had cache thankfully. Sadly I delete all my history/cache when I exit my browser so I can't restore anything :(

But doesn"t google has a cache ?
add "cache:" before url.
But anyway, for many topics it is too late... cache may have been updated

You have to set your skin again.
Common has been disabled due to the ne server having issues with load when it I running.
There are many small things that are broken that ee are working on fixing  but we can't get things fixed all at once it takes time which not all of us have that much of during the week.

What's the skin issue though? ??? For me it showed the different theme while I was using the IP to browse Omni too (minus the images of course), then when I edited my hosts file to force DNS propagation on my comp or something I went back to my normal theme settings. Was it due to the IP change?

Also good luck, hoping you can find a solution not involving data deletion nor hosting fee increase (although I am ready to help for the latter if it means helping the site speed)

The web chat is a good alternative for now - I've just set up a relay bot to relay messages between EFNet and OmniNET (which is what the Omni webchat connects to), as well as a makeshift post notifier bot in place.

Yeah with Omninet linked it might be nice. Without Omninet linked it was rather problematic, because for many people, Efnet blacklists their IP on almost every server or ban for no reason.
