Title: Forum statistic page update
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 17, 2009, 01:55:16 am
A few days ago, a mod I have been willing to install for a long while has finally be updated to be bug-free. It is a mod that adds new lists on the statistic page (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=stats) where you can view the top 10 posters and topic starters of the current day, week or month. The daily top posters list is reset at 12 AM every night, it is not based on the past 24 hours, so this is why at night or early in the morning it is always nearly empty.

Remember that you can also check the overall board statistics there too, such as the total monthly post stats since September 2008 and even daily ones.

On an unrelated note, but related to our previous news article, a search engine was added on the #omnimaga logs (http://netham45.org/irc/EfNet/?channel=omnimaga) page.

Sweet! It's always interesting to see how my stats place compared to everybody else.

I like the new mod :)

I'm just throwing this out here, and hoping that it isn't necessary ;): please don't post just for the sake of being on the "top 10 ___ today" lists.

Lol yea true, altough so far we seems fine. Back when we had the RPG mod (December-Jan 05) I was rather surprised at how low spam was considering the high post increase

I just don't need pushing posts, to get there. :P Wait maybe I am pushing now. joking...
And we should prefer quality over quantity. (I am not saying that the posts don't have quality nowadays, just we should have this in mind)

Yeah, on certain general boards I visited, people often posted just to raise their post count. Over here if you do this we can manually reset your post count to zero :P

Curious, I found that page views are increasing but the posts increase and decrease.

Look also the male/female ratio. :P It can't be 14 to 1. It has to be something more like 50 to 1.

Yeah it seems we get more and more traffic but on certain months, there is much less activity than others (like August and October). It generally goes up and down so it can be hard to tell. If I look in overall, it seems post rate almost doubled on some months, compared to one year ago, though. For example, in October 2008, we had 475 posts and in 2009 we had 827. November 2008 had 999 while this year we hit 1559. As for December, 2008 had 547 and now we're only starting the second half of December and alerady have over the double of that with 1163

That's incredible! Over double at halfway thru the month. Wow.

Keep in mind that this board has only been open for a little over a year ;)  This month still is great though since it's well on its way to being the best month since the board's reopening in terms of both topic count (excluding the first few months when there was a topic for every program in the downloads) and post count ;D

Well except for October 2008, the board did pretty well when it reopened IMHO, considering Omnimaga did not exist for over half a year prior that (except in a IRC channel form) and I did not have any plan to ressurect it back then. Given the community inactivity at the time I was sure we would never top 1K post a month again too, since even UTI barely got much activity

yeah two members had fun changing their gender to female even if they are not girls :P

We do have three girl members, though, altough they are not active and one of them hasn't specified her gender

Yeah, I spotted too.

That should be the better ratio you can find in a calc community. :P

Oooh, very shiny :)  I like that we can now see day to day statistics, that was one thing that I always was looking for.
