Title: https by default
Post by: Eeems on December 06, 2014, 12:54:14 am
Omnimaga is now loading in https by default! Have fun using the site with some added security due to cloudflare's universal SSL (https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-universal-ssl/)
If you notice anything failing to load that you think should be loading, let us know with ourl.ca/issue (https://ourl.ca/issue) and we'll look into it.

CloudFlare has some wonderful tools, would still recommend for people with websites here.

The first issue that I find is that http://ourl.ca/issue gives the following error:

Quote
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, first array member is not a valid class name or object in /var/www/www.omnimaga.org/SSI_eeems/sql.class.php on line 66 No database selected

So I'll report the two other issues below:

-Quick modify no longer works most of the time (I would say 9 times out of 10 it never loads). It loads forever and never does anything again.
-The following issue is not related to HTTPS switch, but started happening around one or two weeks ago: I keep getting The last post from your IP was less than 1 second ago error messages when posting. I have to refresh the post page then try again, which can be annoying if I decide to post a survey or a new topic and have to re-enter stuff I was unable to keep on my clipboard.

EDIT: I can also view the entire moderator center O.O (although I can obviously do nothing there). Geek looked into that last night but he wasn't sure why this was happening.

I've fixed the issues with https, it turns out that SMF pretty urls doesn't automatically pull the current site's base path so I had to manually go in and set that and then drop the cache. This should fix all related issues.

The last post thing is known, I'm not sure what is causing it yet. I've been keeping my eye on it and trying to resolve in.

I'll look into the moderation centre stuff with you if you could message me on IRC and work with me on it.

Any news on that post moderation thinger?

and yay https but why does the site feel so slow all of a sudden? might just be me but slowness (Seems it might just be the internet here being dumb with its cache)

Moderation center is working fine for me.

I don't know anything about these things, so I don't actually know the significance of this news .___.

https is more secure! Long story short, the s stands for secure. And all the data transmitted is encrypted now :)

I don't see how it's useful for me personally, but, um, yeah that's cool :P

Should be fixed, haven't been able to get DJ to confirm though.

Probably due to your cache beein strange. I'm not getting any speed hits. I did have to drop a bunch of cached pretty urls, so first loads of those urls will be a tad slower at first.

Nice but isn't this only a client <-> cf thing ? What about cf <-> omni ?

Switching to HTTPS sure causes extreme server loading. It took 28 hours to load this page. :P

Oh wait nvm that was the host being down. :P Seriously I seriously hope you get some free months from this cuz it was kinda bad.

Also Moderation center is fixed, so I can't see it anymore. I didn't try to see if last post by the same IP errors still occur, though. I just noticed the site is back now.

The last post from same ip still occurs, I had it when posting the above message which forced me to rewrite it. <_<

The site does load in https, but every link takes me back to the non-https version. Does that happen to anyone else, or is it just on my end?

Maybe caching issues?

I'm not getting any slow loading times. First load will be slow due to your browser not having anything cached. If it continues to do so, I'd suggest pinging me with your browsers network monitor output to see what's going on.

We're working on that. SSL certs cost money.

As mentioned before, this is a known problem. I'm not sure whats causing it yet, and from what I've done to look into it, this is not an issue isolated to Omnimaga, this is an SMF thing.

Should have been fixed when I cleared all the old pretty url cached links. Could it be a chrome caching issue (if you use chrome)?

The slowdown only lasted 5 minutes, after I discovered Omni was back, so don't worry.

Nightly now claims of some stuff being insecure and thus refuses to load like the stylesheet.

EDIT: I fixed it :)

Is this on the server side or on your client?

Turns out our nightly backup is to blame. Forgot to change the settings files it's using :(

I use Firefox, but it seems to be fixed now.

It was probably related to the backup resetting the base url.

As for the Last post by the same IP, I had it happen on Tapatalk as well earlier, except that on Tapatalk the problem is even worse: It deletes the post you were typing in the process. As a result, I can no longer post via Tapatalk.
