Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 08, 2007, 01:49:00 pm
Yes that's right, the famous computer game you've all played is now available for your calculator. For those don't know, the objective is to swap 2 adjacent gems, so that at least one of them forms a group 3 or more adjacent gems that are the same type and make them disappear, scoring points.

It can be downloaded in Our Programs section now!

I didn't mean in the current version. I meant in the future version; yes that version is of course b/w.

It's B/W and the controls are a bit weird...it doesn't save your game either...I hope Jon fixes that soon.  But great game, nonetheless!

thats the usual on ticalc.org, altough that's slightly under average now, because the normal is one good game out of 50, not 100 ;)wink.gif

i think it's because they finally got a new Archivist, not to mention new reviews/surveys person.

Good Work though on bejewelled!

true, at least now ticalc should regain its activity back. News seems to get so few comments nowadays, even assembly games

I can't get the controls to work at all for me wtf? [ON]+arrows should be changed to [2nd]+arrows And i think that would make it better.
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: Jon on September 09, 2007, 04:15:00 pm
Pardon the inactivity guys. I do have the intention to add writeback. As for On+arrows, i think i'll leave that. And as far as grayscale goes...i'm plain awful at Grayscale, so anyone willing to co-author with me is welcome to contact me about adding grayscale to the mix.

glad to see you again jon! :)smile.gif

as for grayscale do you have problems on coding or just drawing sprites? I'm sure someone here could help on sprites if its them
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: Jon on September 09, 2007, 04:25:00 pm
lol sprites arent the problem. coding's my problem. loop grayscale is too slow, and i can never get IM 2 interrupts to work. Someone good at ASM plz help! :'(

ooh ok I see :(sad.gif sorry to hear :(sad.gif

I wish iambian or tr1p1ea would pass by. They still comes on IRC though if you are lucky you may be able to get help from them, or on #tcpa (but idk if the old asm coders still comes here)

hmmm btw is there any other bejewelled game on ticalc? I dont remember seeing any uploaded in the past year, if there arent any or if the ones that are on ticalc are crappy maybe next versions could be worth a news on ticalc?

EDIT: did a ticalc search, and it appears there is none, NONE!!!! O_Oshocked2.gif

so you just did the first ticalc bejewelled game ever ^.^

Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 10, 2007, 11:56:00 am
hmm i dont think he did any, unless he mispelled bejewelled in his game title, then this would be why ticalc search didn't found it but the point is that there's so few

No, bejeweled is most definitely not in Jim_e's profile. Jon's was the first uploaded!

The things credited to Jim_e on ticalc.org;

LCD Fix
Dline
Super Grey
Grey Demo SE - DBZ Clip
James's Minesweeper
Key input routine that uses IY
Real Sound 1.0
Sound Routine Plus
Wabbitsign

meh its a bit buggy. and im not gonna go and flat-out ask MV for a feature, that's just rude *cough* kerm *cough*
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: JonimusPrime on September 10, 2007, 02:42:00 pm
I don't think it was rude but he doesn't have the greatest rep in the community so his stuff was less likely to get featured. But you should try to add saving of high scores and an menu before you go for a feature.
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: Jon on September 10, 2007, 02:48:00 pm
Hmm good idea. wouldn't kill me to put in highschores, eh? and a menu isn't the most difficult thing in the world to code.
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 10, 2007, 02:54:00 pm
just make the game a lil better, like hiscores, and maybe more features (not grayscale now)

usually originality (if the game was done before on calc or not) play a big role in ticalc features just so you know though :)smile.gif. Even tetris which look better than bejewelled because of animated bgs wouldn't stand a chance because of Ztris and Ztetris.

OT: what's so different between ztris and ztetris anyway? It's even the same author who made it I think
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: JonimusPrime on September 10, 2007, 02:57:00 pm
One is newer/fast/smaller and the other has more features.
Title: Jon releases Bejewelled for TI-83+ Ion
Post by: Jon on September 10, 2007, 02:59:00 pm
ZTetris is by Jimmy Mardell. ZTris is by another author, who just optimized ZTetris, pulled out some linking kinks, and re-released, with Jimmy tacked on as a co-author.  The main difference is the size, ZTetris is around 3500 bytes, where as ZTris is like 2600 bytes.

ah ok.

For everyone I will be banned for one month here for trolling because i pronounced the word grayscale (and even mispelled it) and I am a basic programmer

I have been waiting for MLC for 3 years it HAS to come out this time  x.x

It looked so easy compared to ASM, and even C (even though mlc look different than BASIC and C)

But I still need to rewrite metroid so it has less sub programs x.x

Bejeweled is a great game! I have a trial version on my cell phone -- however, they want mo' of my money to fully activate it. <_<dry.gif

This game looks amazing and very professional I might add. Definitely deserves a featured article.

There is a game very similar to this that is already out. It's under the name insane game, and it is old as dirt. IIRC it came out circa 1998. Here is ticalc's link to it:http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/108/10890.html
