Last days to take part in the TiCalc.org POTY
« on: November 28, 2013, 01:25:53 pm »
Like every year, Ticalc.org is organizing the POTY (Program of The Year), an event in which the best TI calculators programs of the year are going to be elected into three categories:
  • TI-z80 (TI-83 Plus, TI-84)
  • TI-68k (TI-89, TI-92 Plus, TI-Voyage 200)
  • TI-Nspire
A necessary condition for the choosen programs is to be uploaded on the Ticalc.org website.

So we invite you to publish your programs on Ticalc.org, especially if they are TI-Nspire or TI-68k programs. ;)
Indeed, competition is relatively low in those categories, with very few programs have been published on Ticalc.org this year.

I just hope that the Omni contest entries that certain participants wanted to enter can be entered in time. Only two days left (and even then, you have to give time to Ryan to read his inbox)

If you want to take part in the POTY, you should ask Geekboy. I know he's making exceptions for that.

There are a number of factual errors in this article. Most importantly, there is one POTY category per calculator model, unlike what this article states. Also, this article omits the necessary qualification that programs have a clear English description, even if the program is in another language, and an English-translated readme is generally also appreciated for programs nominated for featuring.

Thanks for the precisions.
Can you list the models, please ?
I'm not sure that TI-83+ and TI-84 programs are competing in different categories...

I don't really see the problem with english, as the news is in english, and ticalc.org is en english too.

I guess it's the same category since the 84+ is fully backwards compatible and most people (except maybe thepenguin77) still make 83+ programs. ;)

To clear up any confusion, this year there will be the following categories (unless programs from other categories get featured prior to the deadline):

  • 83/84+
  • 84+ CSE
  • 89/92/v200
  • Nspire
  • Applications (PC, etc.)

Requirements are that the file exist in the ticalc.org archives and that it be featured prior to December 1st. There has been a massive influx of programs this past week, many of which deserve features. I'm going to be working as hard as I can to make sure that everything that should be eligible for POTY 2013 will get featured within the next couple of days so that it makes the cutoff. I'm swamped with work from every direction imaginable, but this is rather important to me, so I'm going to give it as much time and consideration as I can reasonably afford until voting opens on December 1st.

And, with that, I've got some featuring to do!

From the last year's result, I think it's the flash z80 series, 68k series and Nspire. I guess the CSE might be added to the set.

Also I think that the color 84+ model will have a separate category, but I could be wrong. My guess was that there would be the following categories:

-83/83+/84+
-84+CSE
-68K
-Nspire
-PC

But in the past, 82 Stats/83 programs competed directly against 83+/84+ ones, even if 83 ASM games cannot run on the 83 Plus or vice-versa.
