Title: Myst 89 Released
Post by: ztrumpet on June 21, 2011, 03:35:49 pm
Today Stefan Bauwens released Myst 89 for the TI-89 series of graphing calculators.  He considers it a demo because the whole game would be impossible fit onto a calc but there's a lot of fun in this game.  It's limited to the main island and some other things, but it's apparently worth the huge file size.  This is a great adventure point-and-click game and should not be missed by people TI-89 series calculators.

Great to know this was worthy of a news post, as there are not that many 68K Games like this, thanks a lot ztrumpet and congratulations, yet again, to Stefan.

EDIT: It was made in Basic, making it more astonishing :)

This is the reason that i would want a 89. its games like this that show the true ability of calcs. good work and it looks very true to the original!

I've never played the original, but I'm still blown away. It looks amazing.

You can still tell it's BASIC, but the speed is already (very) decent.

Wow, I hit the news! Thanks everyone.

EDIT: I just noticed that I forgot to add something in the game. On the island there are switches(the ones with an icon e.g: a leaf or a beetle). When the correct combination is pressed normally something is about to happen. But I was planning to limit this part and give a text message saying "You entered the correct combination, but Myst 89 is a demo, etc..." . I forgot to add that message in the game. So now if you switch the right buttons it won't say anything. This isn't so bad, but I just wanted to say this , so people won't think they're doing something wrong when playing thé game.

Nice work! I would play this if I had a TI-89. It's too bad you couldn't fit the whole world on there, but I guess the original was released on CD-ROM for a reason :P. Maybe you could divide the game into chapters so people would have to put those on their calcs separately.

This looks nice. This automatically brought me some memories from the original game, which we had to play in school for some exam once.

Lol, really? It's already on Ticalc.org, but I wonder. It's basic and it's a demo. It would be great though :)
