Title: Ndless 3.6 becomes reality!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on March 15, 2014, 05:42:19 pm
Users of TI-Nspire OS 3.6, rejoice! Ndless 3.6 is now live, after months and months of work!

ndless.me (http://ndless.me/)
Tutorial (thanks to TI-Planet) (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14087&lang=en)
First of all, to use it, make sure that you have OS 3.6 installed. Version 3.6.550 or 3.6.546 will do. In case TI ever updates to an higher OS, do not upgrade, else you could permanently lose the ability to use Ndless 3.6! To make things easier, links to every TI-OSes are available here (http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_list.php?multi_chaine_search=(v%203.6.0.550)), in case TI ever removes any link to OS 3.6 on their website in the future.

Most Ndless 3.1 programs should run fine in Ndless 3.6. Only the ones which uses hard-coded routines will most likely fail.

So after over a year of wait, every calculator are now Ndlessable again! At least, for now... but even if it gets locked again, it is still amazing news what ExtendeD and the Ndless team did, because several calculators, including many now available in stores, are currently running OS 3.6. Thanks a lot to everyone who helped contribute to this amazing achievement!

Like every software, Ndless 3.6 might have bugs, so make sure that after making sure you have installed Ndless properly, to report them to the Ndless team as soon as you run into them.

Sources: ExtendeD on #omnimaga (http://chat.eeems.ca:9003/?server=irc.omnimaga.org%206667&channel=omnimaga&date=Sat%20Mar%2015%202014#1394917475188)TI-Planet (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14086&p=159156#p159156) and Ndless 3.6 website (http://ndless.me/)

Also, as mentionned on TI-Planet (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14084&p=159154#p159154), a new version of nLaunchy (2.4) is out too! It lets you run multiple OSes on one calc, as well as Linucx.

Check the list of Ndless 3.1 programs which have been updated or need to be updated for Ndless 3.6:
http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14086&p=159156#p159156

If the program you're thinking about is not in those lists, then it works directly. ;)

Why do you need 3.2 w/ CAS and 3.6 w/o? Couldn't you just use 3.6 w/ CAS?

You don't necessarily want to remove 3.1 since it has less bugs, is faster (except about Lua images), and gives you more RAM, according to that post (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14085&p=159155).

but i have one question: should we use 3.1 if we still have it instead of 3.6?

I'm using ndless 3.6 on my cx cas and I've got to say it's still pretty smooth. I do however have a switcher pack between 3.2 and 3.6 for easier calculations. You can download that here.

What? I don't understand what you wrote...
The latest Nover version should work fine, as it doesn't have any os-specific code in it IIRC.

I just got Ndless 3.6 on my Ti-Nspire CX Cas, and I tried installing nover the same way I did before (Made a startup folder in ndless and put nover.tns inside) then restarted it.
But my calculator won't allow me to open it... so I was wondering if this new Ndless wasn't compatible with it, or if I did something wrong.

Here (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14090) is a tutorial to make Ndless 3.6 reboot proof.
Also, welcome to Omnimaga NeonS4, you can introduce yourself here (http://www.omnimaga.org/introduce-yourself!/) (tell us for example if you like Smash Bros ;) )

as far i know it is fixed if u have the new launch even if u only keep only 1 os in it (instead of two) because nlaunch installs at every reboot :D

follow hayleia’s post above mine ^^^

in other news:

i think this is the hottest topic rite now :D

Thanks for the link, after I get to step D8 and the message "Operating System not found. Install OS now." appears what do I do?
D8) Send then the parent folder file matching your calculator model:
I don't understand what its telling me to do... parent folder file?

Edit: I tried dragging the nlauch.tcc file onto the root of my calculator but it returns to the "Operating System not found. Install OS now."

I did that, but I return to "Operating System not found. Install OS now." error message. An error message also appears on my computer saying I should try again...

Another error which happens is that my Calculator just keeps going lighter and I have to reset it.

When you're reading this, on the computer you should be in a 'CAS' or 'non-CAS' subfolder.
So you go back to its parent folder where you'll find the required file.

If the calculator goes back to the "OS not found" string, then something went wrong.
You should restart part D.

I don't feel that excited about it. It's nice, but if Ndless 3.1 is still maintained I'll hold back.
Has the CX to CX CAS conversion been fixed in Nlaunchy ? 'Cause if it hasn't then I'm not even considering 3.6.

Meh. I have another CAS calc and Xcas on my phone but I liked the Nspire's CAS. Gonna get an HP Prime anyway since I have teh moneyz. :3 That way I won't need the Nspire's CAS anymore (didn't use my Nspire nor any other calc in a while though, we don't need them that much in prépa).
Title: Re: Ndless 3.6 becomes reality!

Yeah personally if Ndless 3.6 programs released in the future continue working on Ndless 3.1, I'll probably stick to the smaller OS 3.1 until I have some time to install nLaunchy and ensure that Ndless 3.6 won't need to be re-installed every reboot.

The great thing, though, is that now every calc can use Ndless again and almost all of them can also be nLaunched too (just hardware J and K can't, but there's now a way to get more freedom on those calcs too at http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=159231&lang=en )
Title: Re: Ndless 3.6 becomes reality!

Since you can install Ndless 3.6 without a computer (just reopen the installer) I don't really think that it's such a big issue. So J and K devices are still pretty free in my opinion :)
Title: Re: Ndless 3.6 becomes reality!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on March 17, 2014, 12:30:15 pm
Yeah I mean it's more of an annoyance, but also in my case Ndless 3.1 still does the job pretty fine, as well as the smaller OS 3.1 compared to 3.6. I will most likely switch in the near future when I have extra free time, though.

don’t forget the boot programming and anti- ndless stuff

They just meant the cas features, in terms of calculating things not the programming side. Anyway you can downgrade from 3.6 to 3.2.3 with ndless and nlaunchy

Also, as mentionned on TI-Planet (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14084&p=159154#p159154), a new version of nLaunchy (2.4) is out too! It lets you run multiple OSes on one calc, as well as Linucx.
How might one determine what HW revision someone has? My CX says 2109010383 P-1211D

You've got a d version cx and it should still be able to run ndless 3.1 as well as multiple oses via nlaunchy (I've got an h version model which runs 3.2/3.6).

its a relief really, especially since i had been nlaunching 3 oses: 3.1cx cas, 3.2cx cas and 3.6 cx

now there will be more space since i will remove 3.1 :D

First, could u tell me how u dual booted the CAS OS and the non-CAS OS?

Second, I won't update yet. First, because I don't like having to apply this each time I boot my calculator, second because ThemeEditor doesn't work with this yet.

Using nlaunchy 2.4, everytime the cx is rebooted ndless is automatically installed. Saves a lot of time!

To do this, just go here http://www.omnimaga.org/general-calculator-help/installing-cas-on-ti-nspire-cx-non-cas/msg360050/#msg360050 and follow the instructions

Download 3.2.3.1233 from here http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=9675 and download computer link software 3.2 from here http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=5489

This is not compatible with 3.6, only 3.1/3.2

Enjoy!

I posted this also on TI-Planet.
it seems to me that the OS included in the 3.6/3.1 switching pack does not allow custom ndless.cfg files. Can I do this in any way?

The extensions required have already been put into ndless 3.6. Just download that from here http://www.ndless.me and there's nothing to worry about. Custom files are not required

I believe it's a spambot, so that might be a "no".
This bot is actually kinda pointless, now that I think about it.

Not necessarily a spambot. He posted in very specific threads and it's accurate info.
Title: Not successful Installation
Post by: itslutfi on May 20, 2014, 12:39:08 pm
Hi I am a newbie and need your help on upgrading my TI Nspire Non-Cas  :)

I had tried every instruction and it seems what hold me back from successfully implementing Ndless + nlaunchy (both newest version) is the Diag protocol - after installing Ndless, my calc wont load the OS inside the /nlaunch folder  :-[

(I have tried everything, try CAS .tns files in the folder -I use NL.3.1-3.6.Switchpack and 3.2-3.6 ones-, non-CAS .tns files, download and modify .tco, and .tcs file myself using TNOC, rename it into phoenix.tns) if I only copy phoenix files not phoenix.old.tns one it will change into phoenix.old.tns automatically and OS wont load as consequence)  :'(

When Diag screen appear I go into option nomber 0 and test the battery pack, when I restart it continues loading OS but wont succefully load it. (If I dont test battery pack even if I restart it keeps on going into Diag)

why did I get Diag? probably because during Ndless installation I pressed 2 -2 - 0 and then 5-8-0 (this 5-8-0 prioritizes Diag over boot2) I tried Esc+Menu+(-) and it didnt work for me.  ._.

I tried esc+menu+(+) out of desperation it shows bug PP12D on te upper left corner of the screen I dont know what the hotkey means nor what the bug means :'(

the screen stays at loading and won't change even if you wait for hours *.*

it frustates me, because I need CAS program. I dont ask you to provide me info to change non-Cas to Cas if it violates the law or rule in this forum. :-[

I ask you to help me why wont my TI nspire successfully load the program as it should be. :)

(additional Info, I cant managed to press 2 -delete OS- if I pressed Menu+Enter+EE button, instead I picked 4 -total format- and continue from there everytime)

Huge Thanks everyone ;)
