Amazingly enough, Extended (who we don't need to introduce anymore), did it again.
The Nspire 3.1 has been "jailbroken".
YES, I'M TALKING ABOUT NDLESS 3.

The hack requires (for now) a USB connection.
It's not stable for the moment, and is not released, so it's useless to ask where you can download it.
This is actually more of a proof-of-concept that anything else.
I guess it's just to remind us that he's still working for us all...
Let's hope it will be available soon ;-)
However, there are still some watchdog to workaround on the CX devices for the hack to work....

I'd imagine it would still work, but it might need to be recompiled. OS3 is heavily protected, so I think stability is going to be a big issue here.

I'm curious if this comes out for the CX if some authors of previously released C/ASM games will come back to re-release them in color or if some people will take over the projects and add color? nDoom in color would absolutely RULE! O.O

This is just awesome! I'm looking forward to the day I can play pokemon again on my nspire...
I have chosen 3D graphics and Lua programs above C programs to try them, but now this rocks! This is the best of both worlds!
Will I need any extra equip or software to do this or is this simply an USB - mini-USB cable bundled with the nspire?
Will it be possible to create hybrid (Lua/C) programs? Like having a program writen in Lua with some added functions in C...
Wish you best of lucks to achieve this (GOD-LIKE) project!

We'd have to figure out a way to create hooks that link the Lua interpreter and ndless librairies, and then we might be able to call C/asm routines directly from lua.
This it indeed an awesome feature that I'd like to help create if I have the opportunity to.

Probably not before weeks or even months: for previous versions of Ndless, there was a delay between the initial PoC showcase, and a stable program that can reasonably be used by users and developers ;)
It could be desirable to wait until the next OS version comes out for releasing Ndless 3: if the vulnerabilities are still available there, triple bonus points. If Ndless 3 comes out before the next OS version, TI will probably fix the flaws once again, and the next OS version is going to be left in the cold.
We all know and understand that users and programmers are impatient to get Ndless 3.x... but the higher the number of persons asking "when is it going to be released ?", the larger the delay, because someone (ExtendeD, myself, others) has to spend time replying "later" ;)

So I assume about half a year before release, right? When Ndless 2.0 PoC came out in Spring 2010, it took until about December 2010 before Ndless 2.0 comes out. So I would guess around Summer 2012 Ndless 3 should be coming out? (At least for the old models)
