A few months after Bfr left Omnimaga staff, it's Netham45, our co-admin, and Art_Of_Camelot, who was a long time helper in our community, to leave our programming team, leaving us to 8 staff members including myself. Altough we do not know everything about why they became inactive, it soon became clear they have moved on from graphing calculators as a whole. Netham45 moved on years ago, but remained active anyway and did administrator stuff on the site and IRC channel. Unfortunately, in the past months, he slowly became more and more inactive, to the point where he hasn't responded to anything on IRC in over 2 weeks, meaning he can no longer contribute. As for Art_Of_Camelot, he hasn't released anything in the 2 years he has been Omnimaga staff, altough he did help a whole lot by giving feedback, helping people to program, moderating and more. Recently he vanished completly from the face of the Earth for the 2nd time this Spring, and from a reply from him a few months ago via private messages, it made it clear he has completly lost interest in calculator stuff too.
Netham45 is currently going to remain #omnimaga IRC admin, as we haven't been able to contact him, then we will decide which of our current Omnimaga staff who visits IRC regulary will get admin powers. This make us worried about the future of the Dragon-Fire IRC network, though, as Netham45 hosts the network services. A move to Efnet is clearly becoming impossible from now on, as he is the only staff member currently hosting bots besides me. So Omnimaga IRC channel will most likely have to relocate elsewhere in the near future.

hmm, this could be a problem with IRC...and now we are down to 8 staff members...well with the influx of new posters I hope the loss of these members will balance out. It still kind of sucks though
-
yeah, altough we always have been around 8-10 staff. Before AP made Omnimaga staff we had 8 I think. However since then we lost Luna (altough he did nothing so it doesn't matter much), we lost Bfr, who was an old forum staff and now Netham and Art, both of which were also old forum staff. Fortunately certain of the current staff are still active coding but with summer coming I hope some staff and members remain online anyway because else next fall Omnimaga will be hard to get active again.
What worries me the most, tho, is IRC and TIMGUL. Netham45 inactivity makes it clear TIMGUL will never return again since he promised me he would try bringning it back online and didn't kept his promise, and IRC, because he is the only active admin there besides Iambian. AlienCC on UTI, who hosts UTI, is barely active anymore. However he hosts Nosolution.net, which has UTI on it, so we might at least have one remaining server, but I am still worried about network services

ah, I remember bfr from Cemetech...he kind of dropped off the map there too.
well if we lose all our servers we could always switch to another irc network, there are a lot of them out there. BTW I was wondering what it takes for somebody to become staff here, just to know.

Well, for IRC, Efnet is out of the question if Netham45 remains inactive like that, since only 2 staff besides me can host a botnet. I don't want to use someone else's botnet (from people I don't trust, I mean). I know some other networks we could move on, though
As for staff here's the requirements here:

However, I am a bit relunctant about the idea of hiring staff right before this summer, though, simply because around summertime, especially with newer members, you cannot take their activity for granted. However, I might do it anyway if I receive applications
Also as new staff requirement, you need to prove with a video that you can survive 3 Asley Tisdale RickRolls in a row... er... nvm that rule

EFnet is a hive of scum and villainy.

starwars refrence (:
How do you know that things from memory?! I have seen some curiosities about games such as speeches in the games almost equal to Star Wars.
Oh back to topic. It looks bad. :( I hope that new staff balance things...
Is that hard getting activity during summer? In September we should gain announces of projects and such?
-
Normally Mid-July through Mid-August and Mid-September through Early-November are the least active periods in the TI community. The second half of September gotta be the worst in general, though.
-
Yeah. During September, It would be very difficult to find free time to go on Omnimaga. But If im still into Calculators then. i will surely come and visit.
-
ok. I will be out for some weeks or months during summer, too. But as soon I get my eyes in Internet access for a day...
