the CG10-20 had that long before the monopoly stole the idea ;) in fact, casio has been using that standby for a while now.  woo-hoo actual innovation

Thing is, TI is just stupid.  I don't think I can find anything on the CX besides trivial things like more unusable memory or better quadratic formula-making BASIC languages that makes it stand out over the prizm.  This would be a industry failure if it wasn't from the monopoly.

I think it would make things looking more attractive and less bland. On the Prizm for example the calc section name at the top has blue bars and menus are all surrounded by blue borders. There are also background images and stuff. When programming in BASIC you can type colored text and stuff to make stuff look better.

Note srsr that here you are on a calculator game programming forum, not a math/general forum, so it's inevitable that you will find things less useful than us or the opposite.

I personally hope the Prizm gets more attention or that people stick to 84+ calcs or older TI-Nspires, because of how locked down TI tries to keep their newer calcs. I hope to see some cool stuff come out for the CX, though.

From what I've seen, teachers generally tell students to stay away from Casios, because of the difficulty in getting students to understand using them.

I had that same problem when I tried to convince my school to upgrade to Prizm's. By greatest concern was that if TI decided to cancel the 83+ line my school would then require everyone to get to get regular nspire's or CX's.  I was reassured from my math department chair that Ti will not cancel the 84+ line anytime within the next 10 years, BS :P and that even if they did the school prefers TI calcs because they are more often used in college.

Yeah but they can still claim that they have a color screen.  Right?  Even if all you see is black and white they can still claim that they have a color screen.  Right?  It's just like their 3d graphing.  They claim 3d graphing but you can't even graph a damn line with it!  Next they are going to go into the toilet paper business.  You get one little square with a hole in the middle of it.

The other issue is that a lot of teachers are not familiar with the Casios themselves, so they are unable to help the students with any questions they may have. If Casio were to offer schools good incentives for buying in bulk, things might change. They also should(Casio) offer workshops for free that teach teachers how to use the Prizm(if they don't already).

They're actually easier to understand if you've never used a calculator before IMHO. Of course, most students have been corrupted by TI...

EDIT: z80man, calculators are usually banned in college math classes. They normally use Matlab, Maple, or Mathematica instead.

Yeah. The Prizm was a bit easier for me to understand... We can see all the different applications in the main menu, but on the 84+ I didn't know how do draw graphs for at least a month because I didn't know which one of the over 9000 buttons did it. And from what I've heard, the Nspire is much worse...
