Title: New signature restrictions added
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 19, 2007, 11:51:00 am
It has been a long while since we posted news on Omnimaga. Due to several complains about oversized signatures that take ages to load and freeze browsers, I've decided to completly disable images in signatures. However, in order to do this, I've had to disable the entire BBCode for signatures, meaning it is no longer to do any formatting or use links in them anymore as well. Because of the new constraints, I decided in exchange to increase the signature size limit from 2000 to 4000 characters. Since there is no more text formatting the text will be small so it should not cause anymore problems. As for links, people will just have to copy and paste the URL in their address bar if they want to visit a site posted in your signature.

Also we would appreciate with this new restriction that members use common sense when choosing their avatars, a 2 MB avatar is not very welcome either and will be removed if it cause any problem.

The fact I have no control on what people put in their sig (even if i would disallow it, they could still do it while i am away) is what made me add this rule actually. This sucks though, I hope Zetaboard allow restrictions for individual bbcodes, not the entire bbcode at once

true. I was getting at all the restrictions that are in place on this and other forums just so we can keep them civilized. Really makes the Internet as a whole seem bad.

I think on calcgames sigs are like limited to 128 chars, if not lower, and no code is allowed at all. Just plain text
