After two months of wait, the site portal update has finally been done! This updates also comes with other website updates.
-As you can notice on the front page, some things have changed. The major change is that the latest files list was modified so each file only take one line of text. That way, they take less space and we can show more at once without ending up with a giant block between the site intro and news.
-Besides the latest downloads, we also finally updated the project and discussion blocks with the recent additions and removals. Also, to allow more text to fit on one line there and due to the large list of projects, we made the links text smaller. Projects are also sorted by calculator series too, now.
-New blocks of links were added as well, linking to various site areas including new pages that were added on the site. In addition to that, the Top Posters and Miscellaneous blocks were swapped between their respective columns.
Besides the portal, two new pages were added and other changes were made on the site!
-First of all, the website links section that used to be on the front page has now been moved into a separate page (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=16)that is now available through the new front page navigation and at the bottom of the Misc page. The links are now sorted by language rather than calculator brands, as certain websites there now covers multiple brands at once.
-Secondly, the About page that used to be present on the old board has been revived (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=17)! Although it is now different, the younger forum users here and those who are nostalgic can now read about Omnimaga history there or even look at previous site logos and banners. The Omnimaga Coders of Tomorrow programming team that used to be available on the front page was moved there and we appended the Anti-Riot Squad list there too.
-Also, the Miscellaneous section was updated again to include links to these two new pages, along with a new affiliates section, listing EeeZor (http://eeezor.ec3club.tk/) and TIMGUL (http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/).
-In addition to that, we are pleased to add a sub-forum for UberGraphX (Project Paradise, by Uberspire). You can access it here (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=176.0)!
-Finally, the Arcade and IRC links were removed from the navigation bar, as the arcade is not our primary focus and is available through the Misc page anyway, and the IRC link is now inside OmnomIRC.
That's all for the updates for now. Hopefully we might be able to do other site updates soon. Activity-wise, don't forget to check out on people projects and give feedback if you can! Despite the activity decrease due to the end of the school year for most people, there are still a lot of things going on on the forums.

I saw it. Great job DJ!
-
Great changes, DJ! I love them -- they look very nice! great work :D
-
Looks nice! not gonna lie when i saw "portal update" and instantly thought about portal 2..
-
Nice, when I have some time I really have to read the history-page.
-
Sweetness DJ!! I've always wondered about Omni's mysterious past....

Hehe, that said eventually there will be a calc Portal release, though. :P
Also has anyone paid attention to text near the end of the history section, right before the big set of site banners?

Do you mean the bit about how the 10th anniversary would happen September 1st of this year? Cuz I noticed that. ;D

You didn't mention that the IRC link had been removed, DJ....
-
I did ???

The about page is really cool :D In addition, the new UberGraphX subforum seems well deserved.

I missed that. :(/me feels silly
-
Yeah I meant to add an UbergraphX sub-forum for a while but I kinda pushed it back until this update.
And don't worry Freyaday

One quick whining request: Would you mind adding to the recently uploaded files line which sub-category the program is in? Would help a lot at identifying the uploads at a glance.
It's slightly heartbreaking when checking the new files hoping for a new TI-84 game and realizing it's an nSpire game or actually an mp3.
-
Yeah that was the original plan, but I never could figure out how to do that. :( Maybe someone who is good at PHP and SMF could do it.
-
Cool! I like the updates.
-
Nice! I like the changes. :D
-
Thanks. :D

I am a 'New Posts' page button addicted. I always press it to see new posts. The location of the button has changed a few pixels in the page, I'm still not used.
-
Yeah same here, I was annoyed a bit by that, same for the moving of the post stats link. I think I'll move the new posts button back where it was and put the about button right next to rules because I always end up in my inbox D:
-
I just noticed that About tab... No wonder something seemed different about the navbar. I like the updates!
-
Just had a random thought...might it be possible to make it so the bars on top stretch across the screen, with gaps in between?
It could make things easier to find, and it kind of bugs me how it stops halfway across the screen :P
-
And what about moving About next to Rules or something? It's still taking me a while to adjust now that New Posts isn't the third button from the right.
-
Yeah that's what I thought Deep, unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do what Darl suggested, though (I tried before). :(
