Title: New TI-Nspire CX Premium discovered !
Post by: critor on January 10, 2013, 03:52:25 pm
Today, while browsing TI's conferences website, Excale found a really unexpected information.  :o

In fact, during the video recording, the presenter's email adviser revealed something that probably wasn't supposed to go public yet.

(http://tiplanet.org/forum/gallery/image.php?album_id=47&image_id=1885) (http://tiplanet.org/forum/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=47&image_id=1885)
(the sender's name has been hidden to protect his identity)

Yes, that's it: the CX Premium! ;D(http://www.omnimaga.org/Themes/default/images/gpbp_arrow_up.gif)

(http://tiplanet.org/forum/gallery/image.php?album_id=47&image_id=1886) (http://tiplanet.org/forum/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=47&image_id=1886)
It's funny for this information to be revealed by an email advising not to "mention anything about the CX Premium". :P

It's probably a new TI-Nspire CX, but, as the name indicates it, more powerful.

When is the release date? Maybe during the next T3 if it is being developped for back to school 2013. ;)

Sweet, this is awesome, I can't wait as I go to college next year, so I could hopefully get this in the the summer.

I dunno. That Premium might be out-of-context and not really part of a brand name. But speculations are indeed open.

Hmmm, are they going to go with a 1 year release cycle to compete with Casio?

Cool!
Lol, what if it was this (http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/P-Line_CX_Premium_Moss_Green/descpage-PLCXP.html)
Actually I Googled, and the only thing I could find was something called the TI Premium felt tip pen

If the Nspire CX and CX CAS are already that overpriced, then imagine how much a Premium model will cost! O.O

A new CX? Now I'm gonna have to buy another one? D:

Jk, but this seems pretty interesting.
Hope it makes nspire programming a bit more popular

I wonder what the 'premium' will be. Perhaps better programming support? But more than that, I wonder what it'll cost :P

While it would be a more than welcome departure from TI's stance in the past six years, sadly, we shouldn't set our hopes high on that aspect... this way, we'll be less disappointed if TI's counter-productive (for teaching and for business) stance remains in full force.

For the consumer, if calculators were priced sanely (like modern ARM-based dev boards are), they ought to cost less than half the current price of a CX.

Sadly I don't think we will see anything new except maybe more RAM and Flash, along with extra math features.

What conference is this, anyway? The presentation seems to be in Spanish...

TI usually has conferences or show new stuff outside United States. For example, back in 2006, info about the TI-Nspire only appeared on the German version of TI website http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/13/136/136860.html

And wow I just found this O.O

That is from Early 2006. This shows how much the Nspire changed until the final release. Some of those screenshots were available for a while on Ti-Planet, though. I just didn't know that Flash animation existed (or at least didn't remember it did).

In fact, they are screenshots from the TI-Nspire CAS+ OS.

Wasn't the 84+ color supposed to compete with the casio PRIZM?

The only thing TI must be doing is competing with itself. In other words, besting themselves. :P

Hmm... possibly on the marketplace, but not as far as raw power is concerned, since the hardware specs of the Prizm are head and shoulders above the specs of any Z80-based platform ;)

Except maybe the BASIC language. On the 84+, displaying 120 pixels takes 1 second and on the PRIZM it takes 25 if overclocked.
