It was about time, but it has finally be done! To post new topics and polls on the forums, you had to go on the topic list. SMF software have this limitation of now showing these two links on the topic view (where you see the posts). A mod could fix this, but only for the default theme and not with the poll button. Looking at this modification and old SMF support board threads allowed me to solve this and now it is finally possible to post new topics when inside a topic too. Inside topics, an option to add a poll was alerady avaliable, but it was for the topic you were browsing. Now it is possible to start ones on new topics from there too. In other words, like on PhpBB and IPB. This should be less annoyances for users now.
In addition to that, the order of the buttons were changed in overall. Now all buttons involving creating new replies, topics and poll should be first.
These changes were applied to all our 3 custom forum themes.

Good job, this is the first forum with SMF software that I visited more than 3 times. In the start was a bit strange and almost missed those features.
For my first replies and new topics I searched the buttons for like 15 seconds instead of instantly. But believe this can be an obstacle for some users because a study shows many people quit a page that takes more than 3 seconds to load! Those people are not certainly from the 56kbs era of networking. Those who still use those network cards are my Internet heroes. :P

PS easily it was a update that was very nice but less important than updates for other things XD

response to PS I think it is mostly because it was first announced on IRC so people replied there instead, and such board updates tend to not get much replies
