Title: Obliterate Scorched Earth clone released
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on March 08, 2011, 03:14:47 am
After a week of beta-testing, KermMartian has just released Obliterate version 1.0 (http://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5868)!

Although it still misses Crysis-like 3D graphics and lacks 256 levels of grayscale, it is still very impressive and it is also the second calculator game to ever support online multiplayer gameplay (after NetPong), thanks to Global CALCnet. For those who don't want to or can't build a gCn bridge, the game also supports linked multiplayer, either via a regular link cable or a CALCnet 2.2 bridge. It also supports single-player with AI.

Thanks DJ! A tiny point of order: NetPong was actually the first gCn/Cn2.2 game, but it was nowhere near the magnitude of this. :)

Ooh I forgot about that one. My bad. X.x Probably because it was released before gCn 1.0 so I kinda forgot about its online multiplayer potential. Fixed.

What? D:

Seriously, though, it looks awesome. Too bad teachers would easily notice four calculators connected to a makeshift bridge :-\

Lol, and yeah, I think that would work best outside classes or at home online.

Well I sure hope it won't have to be through the Nspire CX, because I bet TI will charge a few hundreds of dollars for the wi-fi module.

That's absurd DJ_O.  This is TI we're talking about here.  They'll sell it as a classroom set, charge >$9000 dollars for 3, and only let them connect to the "The Certified TI nSpire Interactive Wireless Communications Administrative Locked Down Teachers Did We Mention It's Certified Thingy".  or TCTINSIWCALDTDWMICT for short.

I wouldn't be surprised if TI actually did that. :P

Umm, you have to buy it for the CX too, but it's back compatible, since it runs through the usb. The CX is actually hooked up very similarly to the nspire with such things.

I thought the normal nspire has some strange slide case so it could do the wifi stuff as well...

EDIT: looks like it
Spoiler For big:

Yeah but that's for TI-Nspire mode, not 84+. Also that costs in the hundreds of dollars.
