Title: Omnimagas database is complete!
Post by: Sorunome on June 05, 2014, 05:57:45 pm
Finally, after 10 years of Omnimaga its database if complete!
In my spare time I manually merged the only missing posts, the Yaronet posts, and you can view them over here: http://www.omnimaga.org/yaronet-posts/
They are read-only to prevent necro-ing.

And not only that, I also fixed the timestamps on this board over here: http://www.omnimaga.org/pre-invisionfree-news/

Last I also made a script to re-calc all the stats, giving out stats page (http://www.omnimaga.org/stats) nice posts from way back since 2004!

Who would even dare to necro those old topics <_<
Anyway nice job, glad to have all omnimaga posts where they belong.

To be fair, I hold the record of the non-god-teir members :P

But yeah, good idea to lock those topics.

EDIT: 1234 posts!

Awesome job! There aren't that many posts there, but it's still part of Omni history, so it's nice to see them again.

My suggestion, though, due to how few posts there are: Maybe merge certain categories together? For example, general discussion and off topic discussion only contains off-topic material. Also, on the new board projects and ideas are together, so maybe you could merge them together too. Since there is only 1 ASM topic and it's project-ish you could also move it there, along with the ROL3 stuff. That said, the ROL3 sub-forum could be moved to discontinued projects as well, but it wouldn't be in the yN archive anymore. :P

(Also, for everyone else: note that there were TI-BASIC and 68K sections on the yAronet board. He just didn't add them since no post ever got made there.)

EDIT: For some reasons, many months in the board stats have decreased O.O (for example, January 2006 used to be over 4000 and May 2005 was over 300). The missing 0-post days in 2004-05 also messes up the stats graph. O.O

My explenation: my re-count tool did not count deleted posts, and thus the numbers since SMF2.x were fine, the posts from SMF1.x were a bit off so my guess is that SMF1.x still counted deleted posts and they "went away" with the re-counting. So nothing to worry about ;)
EDIT: plus the days where the post dates were manually changed in the DB changed OFC too.

Well, it seems every post posted on Omnimaga are together for the first time in 10 years! Also, Sorunome posts in News for the first time and DJ Omnimaga's post count is accurate for the first time in years.

Yep, that's quite the event.

Oh ok phew, I got worried that some posts were lost or something. I guess it's more accurate if it only counts existing posts, though, although it was fun to see how many we had back then :P.

However, you should maybe include the 0-post days for the 2004-05 stats (and that one April 2012 missing day) so that the stats graph won't be messed up anymore. :P I think Netham used some script to generate them.

Now to fix join dates :P (so that people's join date is set to their first post if the post was made on a previous database)

Of course yours should be set to Omni's creation back in 2001. :P

Sorry, I beat you. Necroed the oldest topic I could find before they were locked. Eeems deleted the post tho, but he and sorunome can confirm.

Most likely a little more, since the first ever yAronet topic was posted in March 2004. :P So it would be about 10 years and 3 months. :P

If I get too excited I might... I tend to get too excited about a lot of things. That's how I got banned on Cemetech...

I seriously doubt you could get permbanned for double posting, though :P (unless you really tried hard), and even on Cemetech I doubt your ban was long.

It's a perm ban. I just deleted my cookie for Cemetech so I could get on and read the posts.
I could get banned... Judging by how much Kerm has been annoyed by me... (I didn't mean to)

Sorry to hear, then. D: Although I think if you behave well here and wait a few months I think it's possible to appeal a permban there if their 2009 policies are still valid. Of course it probably depends of what the user did, though (eg if he's drug-dealing in #Cemetech chatroom or repeatedly posting shock imagery). You would need to contact the staff.

On a side note, the old board had links to old Omnimaga logos that looked like the current one, but different colors. I liked the cyan and green ones but most people voted for the blue one when I started a poll on MaxCoderz back then. Too bad all those images are gone, though.

I noticed that bug already before vacation and what i did was started to make it to be able to handle gaps. Started as that isn't done yet.

Ah i see. Hopefully you can manage to fix it eventually. :P

Also, is TIMGUL the next site db to merge? :P (assuming it comes back online and that someone writes a script to replace attachments with external links so that Omni doesn't have to stock the MP3s.)
