Last night I (Eeems) updated and deployed new IRC server for Omninet. Omninet is Omnimaga's personal IRC network. While we currently link Omninet to Efnet via OmnomIRC, we do plan on switching over to Omninet completely in the coming years.
Omninet currently has 4 servers and one service server. They are laid out as shown below:
omni.irc.omnimaga.org
|-services.irc.omnimaga.org
`-eeems.irc.omnimaga.org
|-saphira.irc.omnimaga.org
`-irp.irc.omnimaga.org
So feel free to connect to irc.omnimaga.org and join us in #omnimaga

What?
I don't want to be a party-pooper, but I think we should keep the link to EFnet for the following reasons:
1: Everyone knows EFnet.
2: EFnet is very n00b-friendly. It has a built-in webchat on its website.
3: EFnet is one of the easiest places for someone to stumble upon our channel (although this is unlikely, it has happened before).
4: People stumbling upon channel = new members = more projects and stuff

1: Everyone knows EFnet.
And many people dislike it for multiple reasons
2: EFnet is very n00b-friendly. It has a built-in webchat on its website.
So does/is Omnimaga.
3: EFnet is one of the easiest places for someone to stumble upon our channel (although this is unlikely, it has happened before).
I'd prefer for people to stumble upon our site and then join our channel after seeing what we are about.
4: People stumbling upon channel = new members = more projects and stuff
Again, I'd prefer for people to stumble upon our site.

I understand now from that and from some IRC discussion...
Well, long live Omninet!

In short, this is a network for those who are fed up with EFNet. We might still keep the EFNet link for those who likes EFNet and who prefer stumbling upon the channel on EFNet. We aim making this network the network for calc stuff, kinda a thematic network like you see everywhere. (CalcNet, maybe?)
Also I host saphira.irc.omnimaga.org aka irc.juju2143.ca :3 Really, hosting our own IRC server is kinda fun, we can do whatever we want with it, inclding hosting the OmnomIRC bots on 127.0.0.1 without problem.

I will probably keep the link alive to efnet. Because I primarily use efnet its where all the other irc channels I reside in are located. I also will be maintaining the bot net there. Once I get unlazy and do it. Eggdrop is a pita. (might just use Eeems bot for it Eeems you should teach me socket stuff once I learn JS more )

The link will still be there, just in an unofficial capacity later on. Maybe we can get some of the other channels to move to Omninet as well.
My bot isn't as feature filled as Eggdrop, but it's got a great API and I've got some good plans for it. I'll have to add in an API for bot communication as well.

I would personally leave hte link to some extent still alive too.
Anyways, yay OmniNET! :D

IMHO the EFnet chan should be kept as secondary, linked (or as 2nd Omnom chan) to the main Omninet chan. In 2006, we lost many users due to moving entirely from Efnet, as their favorite chans were on Efnet, then in 2009, the month after moving back to EFnet, we jumped from 12 users to 24, most of which came from other big chans.
Maybe make Omninet the main network but not force #cemetech/#ti users to switch to multi servers?
-
Yeah, we ain't forcing anyone, that's why we keep the EFNet chan.

Ok good to hear. In the worst case scenario maybe soru could keep a third-party linker bot. I think everything else should be hosted on Omni server. Less downtime issues to worry about and easier.

Lol, i already said that on IRC before you posted this :P
-
Any chance of getting a Omnom link to Cemetech's chans?
-
pretty unlickley, sorry
-
You might want to suggest Kerm to make a new #cemetech channel on Omninet and a link to it.
-
Also, is OmnomIRC going to become a client for Omninet? (If it isn't already)

OmnomIRC is probably going to stay that remote, self-programmed chatting network that has a link to real IRC.

Nope, they have saxjax and already don't want any more linker bots.
