Title: Phoenix arrives on the TI-Nspire
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 07, 2011, 07:43:33 pm
Those who wanted a Phoenix clone for the TI-Nspire OS 3.0 or higher can now rejoice: Florent Destremau has released one today!

Like the versions that were released by Patrick Davidson years ago on every Z80 calculator except the TI-81, this Lua clone features challenging levels, enemies and of course a shop to upgrade your ship as you progress through the game.

You can download it here (http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=3762&play=), but keep in mind that the instructions are in French. The ship shoots automatically. Use arrows to move around, S to open the shop, Esc to exit it or pause the game and Home to quit.

I know that Lua has its limits, but that doesn't seem to be stopping the community from making these awesome games!  Another great one FTW!

Looks very nice, I congratulate the author for making it so good :)
Lua has indeed its down sides, but I know (and others, like the author of this game) that you still can do magic with it :)
This is why I'm happy that TI added it, I couldn't think of a better interpreted language (for the nspire).

Yeah I'M glad we're at least not stuck with the crippled TI-Nspire BASIC language anymore.

Wow, this looks quite impressive! Lua is proving to be quite capable. I can't believe TI did something right for once...

Haha my highest is 269000.
The game will repeat itself and bullets hurt more which screwed me over... I got to the 3rd round of repeats.  I managed to buy the ultimate weapon!!! :D

Wow awesome. I just scored 109009 earlier. The game looped back to level 1 with my triple plasma gun, but I had 3 energy left and money to buy 6 more, and I never could keep my energy and money high enough to survive very long. I think I reached level 7 on my 2nd run before finally dying.

Hehe DJ_O, you aren't that good huh... >:D
JKJK, I failed several times before I got the score I put on the previous page.

Necropost: I just scored 284652. I managed to get the ultimate weapon in the 2nd round but in the 3rd round I accidentally bought the plasma one causing me to lose my weapon. I think after each set of waves (after beating the final boss, the game restarts) enemies gets longer to beat because I could barely even do any damage anymore so I got bored and just went through a wave of bullets and died :P

I thought his high score was 146470? ???

EDIT: Nvm for some reasons I didn't see his new post above.

Maybe post some screenshots if you want to prove yourselves.

I don't think it's really a good idea to accuse people of lying. Besides, this is just a calculator game with no chance of a competition (although in 2010 I remember someone wanted to make a site to compile calculator highscores with cheating detection)

He lost his game because the TI-Nspire was out of battery, didn't it ? :p

I sure hope that the battery wasn't full before starting playing. I'll be shocked if it only lasted 30 minutes... O.O
