Title: Play Doom on your Casio Prizm!
Post by: Juju on June 25, 2012, 04:26:09 pm
Despite being newer and having a processor two times slower than its competitor the TI-Nspire, the Casio Prizm is already beginning to be on par with it in terms of good quality third-party apps and games.

So after the overwhelming success of the Nspire version, MPoupe presents today his Casio Prizm port of Doom.

This version is in its very early stages and runs pretty slow due to the processor's limitations, even overclocked, so it may crash from times to times, so be warned.

Download it now! (http://ourl.ca/16465)

good to see, but couldn't the prizm be a little more overclocked so it became better playable?
in the nspire I usually underclock it the the stock OS 1.7 clock of 90MHz and that is the perfect speed.

over/underclocking isn't the issue. it doesn't speed up much when doing so. the problem is there being too little available RAM.

Wait is this in C? I didn't realize Prizm supported C. Can someone explain :o

Yeah it is in C. Tari (I think) made a sdk which allows C(++) to be compiled into prizm add-in format. More info: prizm.cemetech.net

Maybe less detailed sprites can speed it up, or smaller render distance?

It's in C, compiled by Simon's Mini-SDK. I tried the cemetech sdk, it compiled, but the addin generator failed (unable to find function in some library). I use Windows XP SP1 for development, so this may be an issue :-)

Though I am still a TI-fan, I can't help but admire the progress made on the Prizm side. Great work! :)
