Today a new section on Omnimaga was created. It is named "Private Matters," and as the name implies it is for things that are not for everyone's eyes. Formerly the Spam section was used for this, but with its temporary closing and recent suggestions from this thread (http://ourl.ca/13099) the staff took the time to complete this task. We hope you enjoy this new board and hope it is not used for spam. It is open for anyone with 100 or more posts.

I like it. Having a private section separate from Spam makes sense to me, since Spam implies, well, spam.

In fact they would just try to get above 100 posts the fastest possible without getting spammy.

Will stay in news, since it's useful for pretty much everyone.
The only stuff that should get there is stuff that's shouldn't be visible to newbies, like personal info and secret projects.

I used to be juju2143, it's still my login name (different from display name). Somehow it shows the login name on IRC instead of the display name.

You know, Juju, it's not too hard to change it. You just have to online at the same time as another admin. :)

Glad to hear this is added. Since the spam section requirement is volatile (the plan was to drop spam to 20 posts at the end of the month or as soon as Omni reaches 211170 posts, right?) and can change a lot depending of its activity versus the entire board, it makes it harder to post stuff we want to keep secret but still don't mind telling Omni users.
We should not overuse it for every single project we make, though, else the board will look dead to guests, lol. We should keep it for beta-testing or other stuff like life rants we want to keep out of reach from IRL people like parents.

Question: Are you planning to add a link to this section on the front page too? So far the front page lists spam and humor, but not private.

That's exactly it. The Spam board's there for a reason. "Private Matters" doesn't mean random spam.

Also does "New" now ignore the private section? The fact the bot notified of new posts there kinda defeated the purpose of that board...
On a side note: One thing I didn't like about secret stuff in Spam was that most people automatically thought the spam section was just that, spam. As a result, if somebody posted an extremely important topic there, almost nobody bothered to check. I hope the change fixes that issue.

I had one box too many checked, so it allowed the 50-100 post group in by accident.

Oh ok. It reminds me when I sent a PM to all admins once, but had Builderboy included in the list, despite him no longer being admin lol.
