Title: Rivereye Studios to close its doors
Post by: rivereye on October 04, 2006, 01:22:00 pm
After having some problems with my hosting company with the renewing of my domain name, I have decided that the best thing for me to do would be to close my website down and move on to bigger and better things. If people have a serious interest in keeping this site alive, I will attempt to secure other hosting and re-open the site from scratch. The new site will be fully open to anyone who wishes to help make it a great community for people, but I would want fully committed people for this kind of thing. If you have any interest at all in trying to revive my site, please PM me here and I will attempt to get back to you in due time.

awww... idk what happened, but from what I heard from IRC, this is really unfortunate.  I hope this does not mean the end of you programming calcs, and if it is, I hope you've moved onto bigger and better things/platforms.

What would be nice is if the site html? code was released to help people make their own forums.  Of course googling html, php, and other tutorials would also be helpful XDsmiley.gif

good luck man!

there wasn't much code anyways with the site, but I might do something with that. I still plan on programming calcs though.

http://www.1and1.com is really good though (for web hosting, which includes free domain name(s) and for just domain names); it's what http://www.ticalcs.net uses.  Domain hosting companies are the same  :)smile.gif .

rivereye:   :(sad.gif I was wondering why I couldn't access the website earlier today....  In case you want to get a domain name again, here are some plans that you can compare: http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/HostingOverview;jsessionid=DC9F0177E37830CEF1C0E87CFD4E9F2D.TC61a?__frame=_top&__lf=Static.

yes, that is one thing I need to work on some more. I also have the admin panel I was in the middle of working on. I will still play with that some, as I do have a localhost server on my comp to play with.

entire site went down. Btw, forums moved to http://s15.invisionfree.com/rivereye a while back (due to some email problems). Also, because of the lack of activity on the site, the provider shut down the site. Ah well.

hmm wow I reallt dont trust hosts anymore. most seems to require you to either do stuff or pay 10x more, otherwise they have limited space. I'm sorry to hear this happened :Swacko.gif at least on invisionfree you are sure to not lose your forums unless you post a link to the admin cp accidentally somewhere with the session ID

EDIT: ouch! MY EYES BURRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSS!

ok, bad skin, I know. Also, this one required a new visitor each month, which I guess was not done. I have no more intentions of dealing with having a web site (at least, until my CMS is finished).
