Title: Robot War and AOD series port
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 18, 2008, 04:59:06 am
Talk about a TI-83+/84+ port of Robot War (http://www.unitedti.org/index.php?showtopic=5527), released a few years on the TI-82, has begun on United-TI. While Robot War 2 is also progressing, it seems more and more like the series will finally make their way on the more popular calculator models. Due to the TI-83+ series smaller RAM (24 KB, while the TI-82 had 28), the games will most likely take the form of flash applications. You can check for more progress here (http://www.unitedti.org/index.php?showtopic=8221).

On TI-Freakware, Age Of Darkness series is still making its way to the TI-86 and most likely other models as well. You can check for updates here (http://tifreakware.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=1320) and download a demo here (http://tifreakware.net/tifreak8x/aod/aod86.zip). There is also a game maker clone in the works that could be useful in the making of small RPGs in the works at http://tifreakware.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=1344.

On another related note, since it seems MaxCoderz moved to a better server we can now report again about RPGs from there (we stopped reporting after they moved on Tengun because it was way too slow to browse regulary for updates). Nothing much RPG related though and like us, they still haven't put all their old programs back online (FFTOM, Desolate, Parasite Eve Mercenaries, xLIB, etc) so you still need to go to ticalc.org to get them (some of them were also avaliable here at Omnimaga and will be put back online as soon as we get the time).

On Revsoft, after it seemed like the Windows version of WabbitEmu was no longer being produced and that focus was on a Mac version, a new beta finally came out! You can find more information and a download here (http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=816). There was new progress on Zelda (http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=348&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=735) too.

On our side, there have been a lot of progress on Project M (Mario) and a lot of screenshots (beware, dial-up users) were posted in this topic (http://ourl.ca/2634). For the first time ever in z80 calculator history, we will now have a Super Mario game that supports pipes warping to another location. The 4lv Grayscale Kit for xLIB and Celtic III programmers (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=16.0) is also making some slow progress. Same goes for Lorn (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=17.0).

Make sure to check out for more updates in the future!

mhmm strange I thought they worked this morning. I'll check again. Maybe the forum system is broken and can no longer allow links. It might be because of the crash two weeks ago

Ok fixed these links. Seems like in SMF you must not put links in quotes like with other systems

I would like to note to the others that AOD has already graced the TI-7, TI-82, TI-83, and TI-83+. I am currently working through the second dungeon for the TI-86 version, and once I beat that and successfully warp to the 3rd area, I will see about releasing a new beta.

Do you need to change lot of battle formulas for the 86 version? Sometimes from calc to calc it's not handled the same way.

Welcome btw :)

Actually, no, this is almost a direct port from the 83+ calc. I have taken advantage of the extra screen size by creating a pic for a border around menus and such, that gives it a nicer look than the previous incarnations of the games.

Oh, and I am almost through the second dungeon, with testing I mean. :)

Next to the "quote" button in the upper right hand corner of your post their is a "modify" button. The modify button is the same as the edit button on other forums and allows you to edit your posts.

I wonder how do we merge posts? Not that it matters much though since we got rid of the double posting rule (if people abuse it we consider it as spam anyway). I hope to be able to play RoboWar soon :)

Holy necropost Batman!
Indeed. He bumped like 5 news from 2008 x.x

I'll have to keep an eye on that (although it might be a bot)

Given that most of his (its?) posts are only a few words long...
We'll have to wait and see ;D

Are you sure, though? Unfortunately i cannot do a scan because 1and1 broke the anti-spam mod. I could maybe manually check on the SFS website, though.
