Title: Site hosting package ownership change and new staff
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 02, 2010, 03:38:42 am
After we started seeking new programmers (http://ourl.ca/4379) (and musicians) for our team, here comes the additions and changes in our team and regarding the site. First of all, I will start with the change, then reveal the new staff added.

First of all, as founder of Omnimaga in 2001, I have been in charge of getting all online incarnation of it (from the yAronet board and RPG site to the community we have today) hosted somewhere on the web since Omnimaga made it to the Internet in March 2004. In March 2008, the music files were moved to a paid host, the same webspace as TIMGUL, then a new incarnation of Omnimaga opened on it in August 2008. However, from November 2009 to January 2010, I started to face some harsh realities that made me realize that I would soon have to pass the torch to someone else. At the end of January, discussion between staff and certain #omnimaga ops occured regarding the future of Omnimaga hosting, involving the eventual transfer of the 1and1 package ownership to one of the staff/op or multiple ones. This finally happened tonight and Rcfreak0 was chosen as the new person in charge of the hosting bill, starting after October 2010 (altough payments are now officially made by him, I have assumed the costs for the next two 6-months bills and the next domain name renewal by sending him the money in advance). This is not really a money issue, but more of a long-term Omnimaga future one. Altough a few other people including myself still has full access to both the 1and1 panel and the FTP, rcfreak0, who frequents #omnimaga daily, will now be the person keeping Omnimaga avaliable online in long term. I will remain in charge of the site management with Eeems, and active on the forums while, hopefully, working on finishing old projects or starting new ones. I will also remain in charge of maintenance and backups as long as I am around.

Now, here are the new addition to the Coders Of Tomorrow team:

-First of all, we are pleased to welcome Raylin to our programming group. Active in the TI community since 2007, first on MaxCoderz, then United-TI, then later Omnimaga, he has recently won an official school contest with his Lemonade Tycoon game and is now working on the TI-BASIC+xLIB version of S.A.D, along with our former staff Cooliojazz and obviously Hot_Dog. This will be a turn-based strategy game for the TI-84 Plus series.

-Secondly, we are also adding Mapar007 to our team. Former BASIC programmer, he later moved to ASM development while still helping TI-BASIC programmers, and now he is working on a TI-83+ version of the classic Rogue ASCII RPG, alerady avaliable on 68k calculators.

-And finally, jsj795 was added as well. He started programming for calculators about 2 years ago then became active on the forums last Summer. He is currently working on a TI-BASIC semi ASCII-graph screen platformer RPG called Tale Of The Lost Map.

Let's welcome them all to the team and be sure to check their projects out!

Of course there are still other spots available if you want to join. See the news regarding staff applications, pinned in the news section!

Wait for me! I'd like to contribute, too.

I was staff in early Omnimaga v4, then disappeared due to private issues and connection probs [...] but de facto I'm still here.

I would like to, because he was a great staff in the old board days. Btw it was v3 actually, since v4 is actually this SMF board :D and v5 simply with the skin  change (altough it's possible to revert back to v4, with the v5 navigation) ^^

You would probably just need to remain active, though (see PM).
