Title: Site/IRC issues
Post by: Eeems on October 22, 2014, 01:44:50 pm
In case you haven't noticed, we've had some unplanned downtime for all of Eeems' domains and for some of the IRC servers. The issue is with the platform that our host is using and they have been looking into the issue since  Oct 21, 2014 11:41 AM MST and have been unable to find a solution as of yet. For now IRC has been rerouted to exclude the servers that are down but nothing can be done about the sites that are down.
Keep an eye on status.omnimaga.org (http://status.omnimaga.org) for updates on the current status, and if you haven't yet, you should follow Omnimaga's twitter account.

Awe, I hope issues get fixed soon!
BTW, does this fall under your money back guarantee?

Yeah I was wondering why I couldn't access Omninet since last afternoon and about the many site access issues I had in the last 1.5 weeks or so, although the latter seemed more like an issue on Cloudflare's Toronto server's end (I reported the last downtime to them but it seems they only give support to Omni admins). Hopefully Ubiquity can figure out their issues soon and without too much hassle.

There is no money back guarantee. There is an SLA (https://www.ubiquityhosting.com/page/service-level-agreement) that gives us credit for the next month based on the downtime. I'm going to put in for credit for next month when they finally get around to resolving it.

I would recommend looking at the status subdomains before submitting access issues in the future.
I've been told that they will email me as soon as they resolve things.

Oh I did and saw nothing D: Also, another issue is that when Omnimaga is unreachable, neither your status sub-domains are D:

Edit: actually nevermind I thought you were talking about submitting Cloudflare-related access issues.

Here is a complete list of the status subdomains, some of which will be reachable:
Not all of these will have all of the information that other ones will have, but another place to check would be this twitter list (https://twitter.com/Eeems_/lists/omnimaga-status) or Omnimaga's facebook (http://facebook.com/omnimaga)

Oh thanks for those. I thought that only status.ourl.ca and status.eeems.ca existed and that status.omnimaga.org was identical to the first.

If the status sites are hosted on the same server, they will be identical. They might not actually be hosted on the same server in the future, so it's still a good idea to know about them.

Yeah, good to hear the server is back on business!
For a couple of hours(?), at least, i had the impression my IP was being banned by either CloudFare (in Paris) or by Omnimaga.  How looong exactly was the site unavailable?

It confused me because I thought Omni died or something :P

At least it's back up!
