Since a few weeks ago, as you could see with YeongJIN_COOL, Omnimaga staff have started to allow non-staff members to upload their music in the downloads section. Basically, members who have at least 1000 posts on the forums now have the privilege of including their own music creations as well as video game covers with ours.
Unfortunately, there is currently no delimitation between staff and non-staff uploads, so they are all in the staff section, which is kinda misleading, but hopefully in the future they will be separated in another sub-section.
The rules are:
-No remix of other people music are allowed: Only your very own original creations or video game covers will be accepted. Remixes and covers of my own songs are fine, though, with my permission.
-You must have at least 1000 posts on the forums, outside the spam, intro and humor sections.
-You must have been active recently to be able to upload a song. If in the last two months you only posted about 30 times on the forums, you cannot upload.
-Maximum of 4 MB file size, no external link allowed.
-For compatibility reasons, only MP3 files are accepted.
-There is a certain quality control on what is uploaded on the site, as you could see with the calc downloads section. Basically if you upload a pitched up copy of The Most Relaxing Song Ever with out-of-sync Eminem vocals added on top of it, it will most likely not be accepted.
-No racial slur or any form of bigotry in the lyrics (if any) nor the title.
There is currently no information on if non-staff music is accepted in the radio and OmniPlayer2. Also note that it is possible that staff adds a quota to the maximum amount of songs that can be uploaded by non-staff members on the site (for example, stopping accepting new songs once they reach 500 MB in total). This depends of how much diskspace the server has and how much donations admins receive to keep the site online and add extra space (see front page for donation button).
Here are the upload forms for original works (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;cat=4) and the one for video game covers (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;cat=5). The music download section requires a forum account to be opened.

yes, Yes, YES!
*Yeong starts to upload his musics

Cool. Also note I edited the news post with a red notice, in case someone decides to upload 8000 songs of his.

Sounds like a good idea DJ_O.
Unfortunately, there is currently no delimitation between staff and non-staff uploads, so they are all in the staff section, which is kinda misleading, but hopefully in the future they will be separated in another sub-section.
We could create a new sub-section for non-staff music. I will happily include them in the radio and OmniPlayer2 though.

Yay! Yet another reason to keep posting!

Ok cool Juju. In the past there was a plan to include TIMGUL music in the radio, but nobody on TIMGUL was interested in giving permission to include their own songs, it seems.

w00t? spambot?
-
Why thank you Mr.Bot, I think my face does need stretching.
Edit:300 posts
-
Huh. A spammer who doesn't create any topic. Odd.
And congrats mrmprog \o/
-
That happens. You shiould probably delete the post, though, in case it's the chain-letter-type spambot.
-
My face is quite wide, thank you very much. :P
Great idea! Are there any ideas of somehow integrating the music with Timgul?
-
Nice. I should get to making music, then :)

There was the possibility of a TIMGUL merge with Omni in the past, but it was cancelled because an active TIMGUL member could not visit SMF 1.1.15 sites on his Playstation 3. TIMGUL ran on SMF 2.0 RC5. The member in question is gone, though, so maybe in the future there could be some sort of merge. (Although I'm no longer in charge)

Cool

This is pretty cool, let's hope everybody rushes to 1000 now :P
-
you as well, ephan!
Delete 5003 posts! :P >:D

you as well, ephan!
Delete 5003 posts! :P >:D
and give it to me XP
-
As long as the posts are not spam/troll :P
-
1000 seems kinda harsh :/
I guess I will have to settle for the overcluttered showcases section.
Oh, and quote from the music download section rules:
Here are the rules and instructions to upload your own files:
-You must have at least 40 posts.
...
-
Those are the rules for the calc download section. The music section originally only allowed staff material. For some reasons the rule didn't get edited after the section was open to 1000 post members.
Also IMHO it's better to limit it to 1000 post members so people won't sign up only to post their 50 songs in the downloads section, than forcing Netham45 to pay extra hosting fees to increase his diskspace to 10000 terabytes.
TIMGUL website is about 4 GB of music downloads because people only go there to upload their stuff.

I don't have that great music, but I'm getting close to be able to upload it anyway./me readies his final preparations for his Devil's Advocate post...
