The Future of Calculators
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:18:28 am »
The day we have all been waiting for has finally arrived: Calculators can now browse the Internet thanks to the new Gossamer Web browser unveiled tonight by KermMartian of Cemetech.

Gossamer, which runs on the Global Calcnet Network formerly developed by the same author, uses an on-line application to parse web pages, which are then displayed on the calc screen.

Is this be the future?

*Early reports indicate that Gossamer already loads pages faster and with fewer errors than all versions of Internet explorer earlier than IE8.

This is awesome. I wonder if it runs Runescape?
In case you are wondering where I went, I left Omni back in 2015 to form CodeWalrus due to various reasons explained back then, but I stopped calc dev in 2016 and am now mostly active on the CW Discord server at https://discord.gg/cuZcfcF

Runescape doesn't use all that much processing power anyway, so probably. :P
All kidding aside, I've been joking about this for years, and now it's finally come true!

Yeah this is really awesome. Also it detects forum mobile mode it seems, so that shouldn't be a huge issue to browse some large sites, I guess. I like the new stuff that comes out for those calcs lately.

As soon as we figure out how to access the 3-pin port, I'm sure Kerm will be interested in porting CALCnet to the Prizm.

Man. When will Kerm stop doing the seemingly impossible?

I like how in the video all the grey buttons are worn out. :p

I just saw the video, and THAT IS COOL! As soon as I get my Arduino bridge built, I am using this!

What is the browser already capable of? I can see that it can follow links and view text on web pages. What's next up on the list? Forms? ASPX? Custom URL?
