This is an awesome project that missed the news section when it was first released, but not this time around.

thepenguin77 just released a new version of his Archive Cleaner, a program that finds and saves variables in a corrupted archive, then restores it, making recovering from a bad crash that much easier!

Here's his description of what it can do:
Here is the new version, you can run it whenever you feel like it. It will manually garbage collect, and then clear ram, when your calculator turns back on, it will be good as new.

Uses:
  • Uncorrupting archive
  • Removing random junk pages
  • Garbage collecting
  • Clearing ram

And as he noted in the post, people whose calculators were corrupted by a bug in Axe versions 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 (which caused an 64 KB block of archive to disappear) can also use this to restore their archive!

On the other hand, remember that backing up your files is still mandatory highly recommended when you attempt anything even slightly dangerous. And corrupting anything is still generally a bad thing :P

Awesome. I wonder if this could fix Zeldaking/p2 issues?

This should be able to fix any problem with your archive. I believe the program is crash proof, so it should be able to recover any valid program in the archive.

On a side note, like the earlier version, this only saves programs, protected programs, appvars, and groups, everything else is ignored. So don't count on your archive pictures to still be there.

Since I've seen "crash-proof", I've become very tempted to attempt a program that corrupts the archive beyond what yours can repair ;D
Anyway, congratulations!

To be honest, I would love for you to do that. If it does crash, I would be able to see why it crashed, and fix that, so it never happens again.
