Title: TI-BANK Awards 2010
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 06, 2010, 03:15:39 pm
It's not just the english TI community that has a POTY, the French community does, too. TI-BANK Awards 2010 have just started and 4 programs were nominated per category: z80, 68K, Nspire and PC.

http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=895 (French)

The TI-BANK Awards are different than POTY in the way that at least one math/science program, one game, one utility and no more than one program per author must be included in each category and the fact that all surveys occurs at once.

The surveys are available in the right side-bar at the bottom. You can vote until January 15th 2010. However, keep in mind that the website takes a long while to load outside Europe and sometimes you may need to retry later due to 500 Internal Server Errors. (like we had on 1and1)

Good luck to everyone nominated!

Sadly, I think it also have to do with Free servers being overloaded with sites and slow, because TI-BANK forums loads in about 1-2 seconds for me, sometimes 3-4 when it's slower. TI-BANK main site takes about 10-30 seconds per page over here.

Keep in mind that TI-BANK awards have existed for 4 years, though. They had their ideas for ages. Our idea was inspired from Ticalc.org and not really meant to be something original and new: it was simply to replace ticalc.org POTY if ticalc.org staff ever started to ignore good programs again like they did in 2007-08. Right now ticalc.org only does every now and then. Most of the time they feature good stuff. They just have ups and downs lately, which is why I sometimes try to push the alternate POTY idea again sometimes.

Oh, sorry then, I thought it was the first time.

That's why we need Omniawards. :D

I just didn't announce TI-BANK awards before. I thought no one would bother checking since it's not in english, and back then we barely had any active french member.

Also, last year, I think TI-BANK awards were mostly math programs, which doesn't fit at all with Omnimaga.
Omniawards.
For a second I misread this as Omnitards and got scared. O.O

Omnimaga is more of a gaming forum, though.

I also couldn't see which programs are being contested (french alert)

Yeah, the survey is at the bottom right of the page, you have to scroll down to the end, I got lost until I saw the part they says where is that survey block. ("le bloc "sondages" dans la colonne de droite du portail.")

But still, congrats to the Omnimaga members who got nominated. :P

Another site promoting best calculators programs is excellent.

I have to register in TI-Bank someday.
