I do not know if this is a few days late or not, but Texas Instruments has finally released the TI-Nspire CX for real now. If you check their website, the TI-Nspire CX (http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_nspire_cx.html) pages now shows a "Purchase" link instead of a "COMING SOON" one.
Also the calculator started to appear on Staples website, for $159.99 (wasn't it supposed to be around $145? ???). We do not know if that one includes the Student Software like the $165.00 one on TI website. On Eppstore, the CAS model is available for $175.00 with the student software included.
A few days ago, TI-BANK announced (http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1186) that the TI-Nspire was now in stock on Pixmania and Jarrety (http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1197) (the latter on which a promotion is available for TI-BANK members in France).
This means that in Canada, the regular TI-Nspire CX should cost around $200, as the Touchpad one costs $185.

I've been able to buy it for weeks...
They sent me an email on it a while back
-
Ah that's nice to know. On TI website it wasn't available a week ago, as it still said Coming soon.
On Staples canada it's not out yet.
-
They actually linked to another website I can't remember which though
-
Ah ok. I know on some French stores it was available for a short while, but other stores probably didn't make it available yet. I bet in Canada it will come out when school restarts.
That said, $159.99 makes me relunctant to buy one O.O
-
I had seen 169 when I looked a while back so this is better...
-
It's still really expensive...
-
Yeah. I mean the Nspire was like $150 and people still found it expensive. Granted, it has better specs than the Casio Prizm, but I bet a lot of parents will still choose the Touchpad or 84+ over the CX. Maybe some people could even go with the Prizm.
-
I just saw a CX at Staples, it's was indeed around $150-$160, I don't remember much, with a TI-84+ around $50 less expensive.
EDIT: Well I don't see it on their website, it must be pretty new... The 84+ is $147 though.
-
The prices of the newest calcs seem to be going up...
-
I know someone who is a math teacher so i could get the CX(non cas) for 59€ (so arround 85$ atm).
lucky me :)

-
O.O Lucky, lol
If I decide to get one, I'll have to pay a friggin $190 or so...
-
It's still really expensive...
It is, especially when you consider the official price for a Prizm is $129.99 (same as the official price of a TI-83 Plus lol).

Underwood Distributing is selling the TI-nspire CX CAS for $133.99 which is much lower than $159.99 and suggests that there is some price gougeing going on. If you buy this device becareful where you buy it.
-
/me checks their website
Nice! The CAS is $136.95 now, and the normal version is $129.95./me smells something fishy going on
-
maybe just maybe someone buys it in bulk and then sells it for less? does that work with calculators XD
-
I guess. The stores probably pay like $120, or even less for a normal non-cas and TI sets the MSRP to $150 so they can make a decent profit margin. Underwood distributing decided to just make less profit per calc sold.
-
has anyone got an nspire cx yet?

Yep, a couple: adriweb (http://omniurl.tk/8695/160043/), yunhua98 (http://omniurl.tk/8272152211/), and a few others.

Qwerty <_<

$159.99 seems like a lot of money, but fair for this product. I won't buy it until some sort of Ndless has been made for OS 3 :D
-
I would be careful where you buy it, as said previously. Maybe some of the cheaper ones don't include a slidecase and/or student software. knowing TI, anything could happen.
-
I don't think the ones you buy in a store include a slidecase either. On one hand, they make their calcs more expensive, on the other, they cut costs by not including accessories. Thanks a lot, TI.
-
knowing TI, anything could happen.
How true, how true. I wonder if ti is sticking with their plan of selling the cover which costs them something like 25 cents for around five bucks? There is always a big risk when doing business with people like that.
-
Maybe some of the cheaper ones don't include a slidecase and/or student software
Or the calc OS is sold separately O.O
j/k, that would never happen, although sometimes, we never know...

I can imagine that from TI :)
-
I heard that one of the high level managers at ti is so greedy that he sold his mothers underware and it was in the middle of the winter and she froze her ass off.
I heard that they are going to sell invisible 3d implicit graphing on the nspire at a monthly rate?
-
they've just realised that not many people put a lot of time and effort into purchasing a calculator, and, because their name is so well established, they can overprice all they want and still keep the majority of the market. still, their ridiculous pricing has now resulted in losing at least one customer ::)

That'd be better for us lol

There are units that INCLUDE a full TI Student Software? If I could afford these maybe I'd have time to do my hilariously slow programming.

Then they might be required to have a way for us to use our own OS if we don't want to buy theirs. So it could be a good thing.
-
however,l have had a Tp
-
I don't know if anyone interested or not. But the Nspire CX CAS can be purchase for $138 from this link:
http://www.vernier.com/calc/ti-nspire/cas-handhelds.html
-
Just thought I'd mention; I was at my local BestBuy today and they had the Nspire CX there for $149.
*Edit* I almost forgot to mention it, but the packaging did say that the slide case was included. :w00t: Hooray for TI not being total cheap asses!
-
Nice. In Canada it's $184.99 X.x
-
Is that on amazon the $184.99? Also, on another note, I saw a Casio Prizm selling at Wal-Mart for 99 and something cent plus 5-8% tax.
-
Nah it's in Canada, on canadian websites like Staples or in retail stores. Everything here is more expensive. For example the Prizm here is $149.99, $35 fewer than the Nspire but still $50 higher than at your Wal-Mart
