Ok so if you haven't checked ticalc.org yet, the 2014 Program of the Year (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148719.html) award has begun! Obviously, the first poll is for the TI-83+/84+ category, and assuming POTY works the same way as previous years, the survey will probably run for 1 week. Then the TI-84+CSE category will follow, then the TI-Nspire.
Anyway, here are the TI-83+/84+ programs participating this year:
Axio Man! http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148705.html
Flappy Bird http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148558.html
Flappy Bird Sideways http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148558.html
JezzBall v1.0 http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148548.html
Legends http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148713.html
Pokemon Battle Factory http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148669.html
Pong Ultimate Multiplayer http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148712.html
Reuben Quest: Ev Awakening http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148613.html
Reuben Quest: The Lost Mirror http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148695.html
VVVVVV http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148561.html
You need a ticalc.org account to vote and you don't have much time to do so, so make sure to vote for your favorite program ASAP! :)

lol. I see what you did there.
Axio Man! http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148705.html
Vote for this one. It's the best. (My opinion is unbiased, of course :P)
-
Personally I voted Reuben Quest The Lost Mirror. I might be biased, though, because I made the original, but it's one of, if not the first TI-83+ compatible ASM RPG to come out in finished state in a decade. I had an hard time choosing between it and Pokémon Factory, though, plus the other entries are really great.
-
yay poty!
yay having two entries!
looking forward to the outcome :P

I must agree, I would have voted for this one if I didn't have an entry. I think in the end it will come down to this one, Pokemon Battle Factory, and the Flappy Birds just because they use the words "pokemon" and "flappy bird". :P
-
Although Flappy Bird kinda died down in the last few months. Does anyone know if it's still very popular elsewhere? That said, what I liked about the calc clones is that they are good. Even the latest hybrid BASIC one isn't bad.
-
Local stores here sell flappy bird for pc O.O
-
Wait what? O.O
Isn't it copyrighted, or did it enter public domain as a result of the author removing it from the appstore?
-
Seriously, for 5€
I doubt they sell good, though
-
I've voted for Pokemon Battle Factory because it's such an awesome port :D
(The battle factory in pokemon emerald used to be the only battle frontier thingie i used to be good at xD)

You can probably guess how we ended up adding a sentence to POTY news articles saying where the polls are. :P
-
Aren't people still asking anyway, though? I swear someone did a few years ago, but I don't know exactly when and perhaps the person did it jokingly.
-
I voted for VVVVVV, 'cause that's the one I want the most on my calc. Too bad pimath said it probably won't happen =[
-
I should register to vote. So much good games!

I don't remember anyone asking yet after we added that note to the news articles, but we started doing that a few years ago, also.
Of course, if someone happens to ask how to vote on the voting results page itself, I may have to give up then. :D

Then the TI-84+CSE category will follow, then the TI-Nspire.
A question I just had: So no 68k?

iirc, there were no featured 68k programs this year, so there's nothing to vote on. :P
-
Indeed. It requires notable 68K programs to make their archives and front page.
-
The TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition poll is now up! :D
Dino Puzzle http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148548.html

Imo another sign that the 68k community is slowly dying
-
Yeah, although honestly this has started happening in 2006. In 2006 they went from about 25 featured programs to 3 and most 2010 68K features were programs released several years before.
Also I personally voted for JezzBall for the CSE round. Spaze Invaders was a close second but JezzBall is the game I have played the most on the CSE among the currently featured programs.

Nspire voting is up!
Call of CX
Crafti - 3D Minecraft
Flappy Bird
nKaruga
nQuake
SimCitx
My vote went to nKaruga
-
Yeee o/ thanks ;D
Obviously I voted for nKaruga, since I did it, but if nKaruga wasn't in I would have voted for nQuake.
